Topic: Eliminate Early Science Builds.

Torqez and I have talked a few times about this but thought I'd bring it up in here.  It is an idea that most people who play in top families will get mad about and bash me for it but it is also an idea that negates something that in the past my families have also always done heavily and I know that an increase in competition is better than myself and a few others leading families to gaining huge leads due to the science builds.

Setup a way where first 2-3 weeks or the round, buildings that are passed between intra fam always get blown up. Eliminating Science building.  With the way things are these days, you typically end up with 2-3 families that are more active and more coordinated than the rest which allows them to use a science builder to take and pass planets repeatedly to various levels of built/overbuilt.  This results in you finding 2-3 families gaining quick and large leads over the average families as well as those families agreeing to naps/pnaps early on out of fear of being attacked while passing planets.

Eliminate science building and those families will still gain a lead due to active/coordination but the drastic gap will be substantially decreased leaving more families in contention for a longer period of time and also giving less reasons for a big family to give away naps without even fighting.

And yes, Sadly you have to try and limit the good/decent players to promote competition because you can give the bad players all the help in the world and its not going to help in most cases.

Re: Eliminate Early Science Builds.

why punish team play?  I dont get it

organized fams deserve to be on top, and a big gap in NW is not always good, I look at PW77 where Lee's fam grew too fast and soon they had only 2 targets allowed to attak, and by a bad diplo, napped.  SO the rest of fams stayed out of their range while gaining more planets from midranked fams, that was Lee's fam downfall in the long run, along with him going afk.

Re: Eliminate Early Science Builds.

Punishing team play is the only way to increase the competition like I said in the second post as no changes are going to help those mid level families break that gap.  Those families grow too big and then other families get scared to fight them.  If you lessen the gap between those top 2-3 families early on and the 4-10 ranked families, They won't be as afraid to fight them.

Re: Eliminate Early Science Builds.

I understand the logic but disagree with the course. Bad players will always be bad. This is the simplest of games and we still have guys who have been around 10 years and still don't get it. We won't increase competition by handicapping the good players (who were terrible players when IC had a larger player base fyi) because in the end, the reason a lot of families fail is due to inactivity and bad decisions and poor communication. Even with no allies, fewer drafts, smaller fam #'s, morale penalties, etc. The same players continue to win round in and round out.

Sex without the e is still SX!

Re: Eliminate Early Science Builds.

Apart from increasing competition, there are other good reasons for eliminating science builds. Cant really be bothered repeating myself for the umpteenth time in so many years, so if you really care, feel free to read my posts in Think Tank or elsewhere in public forums on this topic.

You having not actually played in 10 years and never been good really don't have a clue at all, Nolio =P  Yes, the odds are the same people will win round in and round out but you'll have a smaller gap between those families and the mid level families meaning you may see less of those mid families just paying free planets for pnap like you do now when a family twice their nw by day 10-14 asks them for 100+ planets for a pnap without ever fighting and they give in thinking there is very little chance they can win.

You also have the fact that it would allow players to actually play for themselves a bit at start rather than sometimes waiting a whole week for your research builders to get around to helping you.
