Topic: Another US tech advance to hit the enemy soon

It's called ADS (Active Denial System). This system uses microwaves to create pain across the whole of your body aiming at the device. It's non-lethal, has a range greater than most rifles, and can affect a wide area. Recent versions are now humvee mounted, and will potentially also be used by England in policing duties against rioters.

The effect ends when you are out of the beam, thus compliance can end suffering quickly.

There are no side effects, no permanent injuries, and no defense against it other than something that can effectively stop microwaves (not common in clothing tongue)

This technology, like others, is coming out of the United States tech research. Vehicles which drive themselves even in street traffic in a major city, nano cameras, scramjet fighters, ion engines, carbon nanofiber armors, aircraft that can carry a football field, submersible craft which can quietly track their pray and never give their positions away, etc etc etc all coming out of the United States.

Someone keeps trying to say the end for the United States is near... I say that we are still going to be the top dog militarily for quite the while.

from what i read about it now its not really prooven that it does no injuries.
swaeat, wet clothes, contactlenses, glasses that all may be things that have a real ugly effect and which have not been tested yet.
what may happen if your contactlens suddenly heatens up a lot.
Is a lil early to brag about i would say:)

even if i do not say the end of the states is near...
how naive is it to believe that military superpower is the thing that will save you?;)
Also i have never seen anyone on this forum saying that the end of the states will be because you will be invaded or attacked.

but if it helps you feel like a good person keep believing what you want flint:)

I'd like to point out that half of these technological acheivements you've listed are either a joint venture by the UK and US, or entirely researched by a UK institution. One that sticks out for me is the "carbon nanofibre armour". The reason I happen to know this is because it's being developed in my department at uni.

Also most of the things you've listed there, scramjet research, autonomous vehicles, massive aircraft... they aren't unique, groundbreaking research projects for the US. Quite a few countries are testing scramjets (Australia was the first country to successfully test a Mach10 scramjet), and Germany is the world leader in autonomous vehicle research.

But I do agree, the US will be the only country to sink billions of dollars into putting this technology into a military capacity...

That may look really cool right now, but relative to what China has been working on, it's a child's toy.

Nonlethal means more prisoners to interrogate (no, that doesn't necessarily mean waterboarding.  Don't jump to that conclusion).

Well I suppose one could build in a Kill / Stun setting. Personally I would just keep it on the Kill setting and aim at the bastards their legs. Let's see them try and run away with bacon pegs.
