Topic: Hey mods

All these polls and opinion threads are a complete joke.  You are the moderators for this game, please make the damn decisions yourselves and stop throwing your shit to the players.  You are mods for a reason so do your jobs.  Stop wasting players time.

That is all.

Re: Hey mods

Hey mods, you don't listen enough to the players.  Please let us decide how we want to play the game... we are the ones supporting this game after all.

That is all.

Never rule out the possibility that you are a complete idiot

Re: Hey mods

I appreciate that the Mods have given us a chance to add our ideas.

Re: Hey mods

When we don't listen to the players enough, the staff is considered out of touch and not considerate of the people who play the game.

When we allow the players a voice to influence decisions, the staff is considered wishy-washy and too lazy to think for ourselves.

Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

Re: Hey mods

This is a completly unneccisary post.

If you dont ask what you want... You cry

If its asked what you want. .. You cry

Mods are not elected by the people of the game, they are elected by the current mod staff.. More less this isn't a democracy..

However

they do add that factor in when asking people what they want.

The only way around this is if the "people" picked whos gonna be a mod.

And that would just get a dumb person moded

IE

bara .. aaragon  TBO ... ect...

[13:43] <@RisingDown> never thought i'd say it, but TBO actually did something useful.
[13:43] <@arsy> dont let him see you say that

Re: Hey mods

TBO, i've been a mod, and as a mod you discover that no matter what your decision is, it will be wrong in the eyes of someone.   So making posts about opinions is a waste of time.  Id be happier seeing the mods taking the reins and directing this game as they should.  Because that works better.

Re: Hey mods

Orbit you are half right, but also half wrong.  Yes people will complain no matter what.  No, that doesn't mean making posts about opinions is a waste of time.

You're also misunderstanding the point of these polls.  We aren't letting players make decisions by vote, but rather we are soliciting feedback to give us an understanding of player opinion.  That is an important factor when making decisions, and shouldn't be ignored.

The fact that you were a mod is interesting given that you consider polling player opinion to be a waste of time.  I was a mod as well and I remember player opinion being valued.  But then, I suppose that is why I opened this Feedback forum isn't it? =P

I find it funny that you're complaining about soliciting player feedback in a forum that is meant to solicit player feedback.  I don't know if that is ironic or hypocritical but it is amusing either way.

Re: Hey mods

Pie,  you made a poll sure, but as soon as you made it I knew what the outcome would be.  Thats because I know what players think.  Therefore poll > pointless exercise.

Feedback is fine,  but it should only be feedback on game features, and not on game decisions.

Unless of course you're admitting you have no idea what you're doing.

Re: Hey mods

Well when I was mod we used to open new setups for galaxies all the time. See what people want the next round setup to be and then implement it as close as we came to it.

Dont think its a bad idea at all cause afterall players play the rounds and thus they know the best what the issues were for the said rounds.

True LEGEND

Re: Hey mods

Orbit you can't predict the future, nor do you know what 100% of players think.  Don't give yourself too much credit there.  If you had a feeling about the poll results and were right, good for you.  It still doesn't make you omniscient.  So no, poll does not equal pointless excercise.

Like I said, feedback is an important factor in decision making.  That doesn't make it the only factor.  You can presume all you want, but in the end we have our reasons for giving players the opportunity to voice their opinions.  If you disagree with that, you are a hypocrite for using that opportunity here.
