I'm new to the game and the people in my fam have been helping me learn how to play. Thanks to Render and the fam for being so helpful!
Aww thanks KanakoAyumi. Incase you were wondering, I am Silent Sniper! ![]()
doesn't have the common sense to be able to reply to a message then they should be in some kind of mental home, not on IC
Very tempting... but I'll remain strong and keep quiet *grin

Nice to hear.
And sorry, Render, when you are one of the players who do try to introduce new players if my response sounded like you'd be big newbie-killer.
If the guy shows some initial skills, and is kommunikative, then I help him to understand the game. Otherwise I kill him, bekause I dont want my fam to be filled that way, bkause families in PW and MW are kompetitive, and play to win, not as a house of merzy.
"competitive" "play to win" "not a house of mercy" "Otherwise I kill him" ... mmmh, this does sound a lot like the description of a nasty Wallstreet company.
There used to be a consensus that in a GAME everybody is entitled to play how she or he likes to, it's kind of a basic freedom right. There were/are some exceptions:
* inactivity
* attacking or spying against the family
* not sticking to the treaties the family made
in which case the family might decide to kick out a player.
I do get it that the community has changed a lot and even self sufficient players are frowned upon and seen as almost traitors to the family's victory. I am probably one of the longest retired players here, so I haven't got a good grip on the general atmosphere and what I hear of today's playing style doesn't really appeal to me.
well i've been playing this game long enough to know that the about 60% of the randoms people get that join and never login again are multi's or old vets who were told to random to see if they can land in their fam i just find it unfair in fam sizes like this.. cause 1-2 inactives in a 6-7 man fam ruins ur round
That's surely a valid point and an old problem. Virgo was actually installed not only as a training galaxy but also to quite an extent to make it much more difficult for multis and family hoppers. And the smaller the families the more pressing the multi and hopper problem.
Family Hopper Problem
For the problem that players hop from one family to the next until they have reached the one they want to be in, here 1 question and 2 suggestions:
Question: Don't they delete their empire before leaving and joining another family?
Suggestions:
Ability to choose the family
Allow all players and not only VIPs to choose wether they want to random or join a specific family. Sounds like a drastic change at first glance but probably it's just what happens anyway and would get rid of the family hopper problem.
Different family setup and allocation of players
Especially when a shuffle round is planned, the above option is lacking. But a true shuffle can be reached by opening a galaxy NOT with a predefined number of families. Start with ONE family. If all player slots for the family are filled, then open the next family and so on. Solves even 2 problems:
You can't hop from family to family because the previously opened families are already full and closed now.
An even number of players in each family (except in the last family perhaps).
Possible addons for B:
Wiping out a family member is disabled until the first 24h (or 48h?) after game start.
New players joining the game after the game start are automatically allocated to the family with the most open slots.

You missed one
* opping the top fam to ruin me
One of those I killed tried to kill the pop of a top fam banker (7984), putting us in their range. Lukily the people in 84 has honor and didn't abuse it, I rogued and killed him when I was allowed.
So the 1st thing I do when a new player dont answer fast to a welkome msg is to mark him rogue, and this is sad, but it has to be this way.

To try and keep families even, you are only allowed to delete once a round.
otherwise people would just delete and rerandom until the hit the fam they wanted to join.
Unfortunately, this has created the "hopper" problem.
A player randoms into a bottom fam and waits for them to kill him off so he can rerandom.
lol update

Just think what kind of a round we could have had with a full fam Render!
damn i think i got one ![]()
bring back virgo
We still havent got a true inactive, i should be happy i guess.
And keep sending those inactives to render! can't have his fam get much bigger now ![]()
Bringing back Virgo is a great idea..... I always been in favour of a training galaxy so players know the basics when they join a galaxy.
Although the problem with Virgo was the inactivity/lazyness of some of the tutors.... You need active Tutors in Virgo so you can teach new players how to play.... If you have to get through a training galaxy and the one that's supposed to answer the questions doesn't answer you can get pretty demotivated and quitting before even completing the training galaxy....
Here's another consideration, when you start a new game elsewhere, you're atleast given an onscreen guide when you start the game.
why can't we do that for new players here?
New players joins, logs in, joins a galaxy, on the hq page have a pop up, with a guide, some things to do.
Hell this doesn't have to apply to new players, this could apply to all of us, with a mighty little 'x' button the rest of us can close it, new players might be intrigued to read it, then maybe message a leader, and maybe try to figure out whats going on.
If you really stop and think about it, when you sign up for this game, and log in, and join a galaxy, you really have nothing to go by. there's a bunch of buttons on the side, some info in the middle, but no real way to say hey! this is whats going on... welcome ![]()

Very true, when I went through virgo, I graduated without ever getting a reply from my tutor.
I kept asking my tutor for advice and eventually he was like, right! its it not about time you left????? hahaha

We have this now, actually. You guys just can't see it cos it's for new registered accounts. And obviously creating multiple accounts is not allowed. Perhaps we can get some screenshots posted for you guys.
But yea, I always liked Virgo. It helped with the Multying issue too, cos new accounts had to all go through Virgo and get passed through by Mods (i think).

I think we could set it up differently though now. Like have 2-3 Tutors per fam, and only have like 1-2 Fams. That's all that's needed at the moment, given our playerbase and new accounts.
Torqez that sounds good, why dont you please add that idea to the topiks about Virgo already opened in ideas forum?
I think thats the korrekt forum to gather ideas & komments about a new Virgo

@ Alundra
Stayed in my first tutor's family for weeks on end. Refining and as you couldn't explore more than 10 planets. I would practice playing market. He eventually nudged me too leave after noticing I liked the lenient time wasting. ![]()
Torqez... I think it's a great idea.... a few tutors a fam..... when I graduated I didn't get any respons from my tutor.... the moment I passed on to PW I had to learn the basics from my fammembers in the fam I landed in....
A good idea but I honestly can't remember the last time I played with a new player.
At your age we don't blame you
you remember the last time you got laid?????
Lol
