Topic: a new Virgo

taken from another thread in uni news:

"...a new Virgo should be different, the other was plain stupid, ezplo 10 and you're in, plain stupid.
We'd need vets leading and mentoring the noobs, and give the aproval when they're ready to move to a competitive gal, not just achieve some goals, it has to be the mentor who says "ok you're ready for the real thing" and then keep track of the noob in the standard gals, so every new player would have an indicator showing he was mentored by this vet and he can contact him when he needs support."

Re: a new Virgo

Sucks if you got Mentored by Bara lol

Re: a new Virgo

You shouldn't have to go through so much effort just for a new player to join a regular galaxy.

yes you should, learning the ropes in this game is not ezaktly 'easy'

Re: a new Virgo

Making the game in general along with the guide more intuitive would really help I think. If the guide was more integrated into the game as well so if you are on the spec ops page there would be a link to the spec ops page in the guide or a pop up you could bring up for the spec ops guide.

Maybe there could be a training galaxy where there is a specific linear story that takes the new player through a series of situations to help them learn how the game works better and how on the most basic level strategy is involved.

This idea is so we don't rely on the participation of other players to train new guys

thats a good idea indeed, but there should be an option to disable the help for players who arent new
We have links enuf into the game, the right way to do it is with a help popup message when your pointer is over a game feature, then in that message you have also the link to the guide refering to that feature.  Now that's proffesional, but requires a lot of work

Re: a new Virgo

i posted a new virgo idea like 2 days ago lol

Been dreaming, I've been waiting, To fly with those brave ponies
The Wonderbolts, their daring tricks, Spinning 'round and having kicks
Perform for crowds of thousands, They'll shower us with diamonds
The Wonderbolts will see me right here at the Gala!

Re: a new Virgo

Er, learning this game is quite easy.  With the fam bank system everybody does now apparently makes it even easier.

And no, no you shouldn't.  The best way to learn is to play.

Re: a new Virgo

wrong, the only way that works missin is if you land with a decent player who is willing to answer questions and help. if you get stuck in a inactive low down fam (which a lot of these guys may, especially when bigger fams kill them off) then you can get lost, not know what to do, get bored or frustrated and leave.

learning the game is easy for some, the best way is with someone able to answer those questions people have that are silly, this also helps to integrate people into the community and build friendships (which is what keeps a lot of us here surely).

i like fourdb's idea. But i still think having a person to talk to helps better than anything.

Re: a new Virgo

lol thanks for replying to my post tongue.
i fully back the idea of bringing back virgo and hope you guys can work out a way to make it more useful ^_^

Re: a new Virgo

Having to spend weeks in a galaxy that means nothing and is boring is infinitely more frustrating.

There are other ways to help answer n00bs questions than to force them to play in a pointless galaxy until some random dude says they can leave.

Re: a new Virgo

missin, it wouldnt be a pointless galazy, it would be an interestng gal with wars vs other fams, infra jumps, kores, etz...and there's no random dude mentoring them, only vets willing to do this and give their pupils the better learning.

Re: a new Virgo

Well that's just never going to happen, lol.

Re: a new Virgo

i've done it countless times in pw. taken lots of players who barely knew or that had no prior knowledge (or just very bad knowledge) and taught them the best i could. some people i helped mentor are kicking my ass these days tongue any new, active and willing people who join a family i am in i will always look to help out. doesn't really take that much more effort, and can be a great deal of fun answering what seem like the silliest of questions.

just remember, we were all noobs once!

Shouldn't someone have taught you though before you attempted to brainwash new players with inaccurrate knowledge of the game and it's strategies?

And bye flashy! I thought you retired again.  Go awaaayyyy

You have now been infected with Bird flu. Good day.
