Topic: Vaction Mode abuse

70/80/73 have all abused this feature today, i remember a time when this was extremely frowned upon, and the fact that its going pretty much global concerns me.

Especially since one of the fams, a mod is in, (Arby3) and he clearly admitted abuse in #mod without a care in the world.

Now i know some will say say "shouldnt have broke a gentlemens agreement" but at least iam not breaking Pnaps, Making IAs and clearly abusing the game mechanics.

The fact that 73 cancelled on my fam and now that 70/80 arnt around to help them now as they vmoded 1st just proves IA, it clearly shows they knew they couldnt win us alone, and needed the help of another alliance to do something.

This brings me back to the corrupt admin team, but we wont go back into that again.

2. Taking ownership of an account that someone has offered to you. This includes babysitting an account. A vacation mode is provided for when users will be away from their accounts. Violators of this rule will result in deletion of accounts of all involved parties.

Clearly says "A vacation mode is provided for when users will be away from their accounts"

Clearly there not away from there accounts, All 3 families have constantly been on IRC and most Play PW as well as being active on the forums.

This needs to be addressed its blatently against the rules.

I remember this was addressed a few years ago, an announcement was made which i now cannot find, i think it was Primo who made the announcement, but i can only see threads now backdating to mid 2011?

I would like KT, Stefan, Pie to talk about this please.

As valid of a concern as this is, this doesn't actually prove anything.  Inference and proof are different, and although it may seem as though they are working together it is also very possible that either family was just able to anticipate how things would play out.

I understand the concern but in the interest of fairness we can't consider this proof.  This of course is just my opinion.  As a dev, my role in IA investigations is to look for data as requested by the mods.  So everything I said above is just my opinion, and not necessarily reflective of any official policy.

I think this an issue with lack of clarity.  I myself do not know if vmode abuse is technically against the rules any more than NAP breaking is (meaning, breaking unofficial NAPs is not actually against any rules).  I am interesting in finding the post you are talking about.  If anybody has any luck I would very much like to see that.

I will look a bit later tonight or tomorrow morning to see if I can find posts from before 2011.

I understand the request, but please don't take it the wrong way if they don't.  I can't speak for Stefan's involvement in these things and nobody on the staff in particular has to post about anything on request.  That said, I would also very much like to hear mods (not just KT) input on this situation.

This is a valid concern, and all players in my opinion deserve for this to be addressed.  If nothing else comes of this, then we need to at least modify our rules page to explicitly allow or disallow using vmode in this manner.

You cancelled on a fam where it was 6-8 a.m in the morning on a Sunday morning. People were and are away, Vacation mode doesn't allow them to return for 4-7 days.

I asked in April 2012 to have v-mode attached to master accounts. It would end issues of this sort. A dev said they would do it but this was before the ticket system was in place. I will submit a ticket to have a dev work on it.

Nope, was never a rule at all about it. Infact it was brought up many times and allowed.  People were away from their accounts and unable to make the war so vmode was the only option for them.

We were away.  Now some of us are no longer away but vmode is 4 day minimum so we are waiting.

No abuse involved. You tried to be a dishonorable nap breaker and use that to get the jump on your enemy rather than fight them fairly.  It happened that our people are away at that time and unable to fight so therefore Vacation mode was the best option as we were away.  We will make sure though that we are there and ready to go when our nap was supposed to be cancelled smile

you will be out of vac before "our nap was supposed to be cancelled" so ur quite literally shooting urself in the foot there.

your fams + 73/82 was too scared to fight us, even 4v2 u still all bailed and used Vac mode to hide behind, really strong ur fams are hahahaha

please see me "ideas" thread, its basically aimed at ur alliances, the vets that ruin this game with Bullying and nap/infra whore mode smile

ok, i am recently returned player after playing some 8-10 year ago. i have now been playing this game for about a year again now.

since i have returned, i have had this happen 4-5 times. where the team goes into V mode. come to think of it, i would say like 50% of my cancel wars end of in the team jumpping into Vmode. its quite pathetic really. its a war game why not choose to fight?

no wonder this game is dieing, when half the time they take the cowards way out. these will be my last round when they finish up, as whats the point of a conflict game when nobody wants conflict.

If you want a war though why choose to be sneaky and try to break agreements and trick people rather than just fighting the war properly as planned?

I  pay 10 dollars every 3 months for 7 years just to help dupport ic community if this is not corrected if there is no action taken ill never pay another  cent.

that's korrekt and part of the strategy in a strategy game.

I dont know of any player playing RISK and going vmode when he's gonna be attaked just bkause he knows he's losing

Mods should akt and remove the vmode from this kowards and forze them to fight or die.

This said, Lee you'r not eksaktly the most legit to denounze this situation, sinze your retreatment last PW round, you're just finding your mirror image and now you found it irritating, take that! wink
