Topic: No family aid galaxy

I think a good way to mix things up would be to have a round in PW or something with no family aid.

This game can get pretty boring just doing whatever the leader tells you to do and not really having control of your own empire and just logging in like a drone.  Not really the leaders fault either... if you want to be competitive that is what you have to do.


I was originally thinking of having a galaxy with 3 huge fams but was not sure how mods could do it with limited planets in the HS.

But even just normal fams with no family aid would bring back some individuality to this game while keeping the team/family aspect of it.

cool idea.  i do know though that people use the market to aid eachother indirectly (allies do this). would this also maybe be a no-market galaxy as well?

I dont know, I think some players would enjoy playing the market.  I think it would be too difficult for people to micro manage their fams if they had to do it through the market ... sounds like a big headache lol.

wtf I support this idea very much but it is not new, it's the SS non Hc gal a lot of people have been asking for for ages, now you call it non-aid, +1 to Forever, non-market too!!

Ofcourse though, I've been talking about in multiple threads tongue  Good idea to bring it to one thread!

IC players need to be responsible for their own empires and this can only be accomplished by getting them to do everything.  The game needs to support different activity levels though, but in reality, everyone should be doing everything themselves.  It is why gals like Orion Nebula are successful.  People have more fun doing everything - bit of attacking, banking, resourcing, diplo, etc.

if you ever set this kind of gal up please konsider the idea of individual DSs, I mean any individual player kan fund and build a DS to move where he wants.

That's interesting.  But probably not something I'd like.

I mean, for me, the differentiator that IC brings is the family based play.  You still need to work together, you still need to have the same goals.  Still need to work as a team to accomplish objectives.  Still be involved with strategy and key diplo skills.

Else we may as well just have 1 man fams.

Imo, IC's value is through the family and social aspect - we need to retain that.

alright I see nothing wrong with individual DSs and common goals, it doesnt have to forze people to play alone, you can have 1 DS per player and still the leader can say "hey buddy pls move your DS here" or "hey mate my DS in this system has been destroyed, pls move yours as soon as I retake, we gotta keep that key system"

You got me wrong Torqez, individual DSs actually increase communication, strategy and team play, plus you have the option to defend a full system of yourself if you decide to play alone.

Yep, with that you could be right smile ...its a different idea, but a spinoff to this I suppose.  And then obviously limit the # of DS's allowed per person.  Perhaps to 1, so a fam has a max ds to the number of players.
