Repost for Pie

Problem: When using droid devices refresh is forced when checking multiple pages (aka researching a post) even with multiple tabs. Refreshingthe page wipes out all of the post you were making. Also happens on pageback functions (back then forward)

This worked recently in an effort to try this out.

Perhaps there is a log out timer and that is what got me?

Very possible.  Yesterday was full of multiple changes involving cookie handling, which is likely involved in the behavior your describing.

Still also possible that it is bugged though.  I guess for now the best we can do is keep an eye on things.

which browser on your Android?  Asking because Chrome auto-refreshes the page when you switch tabs to it in order to save on memory usage. Presuming your 'droid is Android 4.0 or above, Chrome is the stock browser.

Test it on another one, Dolphin for example

I use Dolphin exclusively. All Android devices and browsers refresh due to Google creating a cache way to small for actual usage. Jailbreaking a phone is only way to get that cache increased yet you can be sentenced to more time in jail for that than a person who killed a child....

a few fixes have gone in that were related to session data that may have effected this.  can you try to see if you still get this error?

Backspace and forward retains information.

Refresh does not.

Negative.

I wrote a few test sentances, hit back arrow, the forward. The sentences remained. I hit refresh (something I have a lot of with android devices) and the test text vanished.

Used to be anything written remained in the "Write Message" box unless you physically closed the tab.

ah i see, i was mixing this bug up with another one.

it sounds like a browser issue more than an ic issue.  does this behavior work for you on other sites?  did it work for you before this recent forum upgrade?  did your phone's browser have any recent upgrades?

the only way i can see this working is if the browser itself is doing a soft refresh instead of a hard refresh.  otherwise the site would have to store input values without an actual form submission, which i don't believe we are doing or have ever done.

This has never been an issue before. It is not an issue with other sites. However I did test this time woth a hard refresh. Later i will test with soft refreshes
