Topic: Forum Upgrade
Our forum software has been upgraded to the latest version. You'll notice things look a bit different.
This was primarily an upgrade for the sake of keeping our software current, which is an important security precaution. The intent wasn't to introduce any huge new features or anything. That said, the latest version does have some nifty newness:
1) New Look
Some of you will like it, and inevitably some of you will hate it. In any case, this is the new default look of the forum. You should be seeing this as white text on a dark background with a dark blue/yellow color scheme. This is based off of El Bekko's winning entry from the forum style contest from the previous forum.
The previous styles are unavailable and will remain so. However, if you'd like to try an alternative the PunBB style "Oxygen" style is available.
It's worth noting that the new style is actually a fair deal closer to how IC's original forums look. What a nice coincidence.
2) Merging and Splitting Threads
Mods, Forum Mods, Leaders, and Vice Leaders now have the ability to merge threads together as well as to split them apart. This will be useful for when related conversations across multiple threads need to be consolidated, and also when non-related discussion needs to be split off to a new thread.
This should be particularly helpful for planning within family forums.
3) "New Posts"
There is now a "New Posts" link for threads which have new responses since you last checked. Clicking this will show you a view of only those threads. Very useful.
4) Other Changes
Tag points have been adjusted to work with the new forums, and have also been fixed to account for gender. This means all you Kings who should actually be Queens should now have the appropriate title.
There are other minor changes that aren't worth mentioning here, but I'd like to ask that everybody take notice of any odd forum behavior. I don't expect there to be any, but if you do find something odd please report it in the bugs forum.
Thank you for your patience everybody. This was a fairly daunting task that although not strictly game related was very important for us to do, especially given the recent hacking. Now that this is done we can focus on actual game related changes.
Enjoy the new forums!
