In a conflict game, everyone wants there to be some sort of moral code. It is sad when they little fish think they should be treated like the big fish.

You wanna be treated like one, become one. If you cannot be big enough to survive in the wild, you will become prey and eaten as such. That is simply the way of life.

This isn't your "liberal" world, this isn't Utopia, and this isn't kindergarten where all the kids are forced to play nice.

I am not commenting on people's skills here. I am admitting to being a bully. Those cards are already on the table.

The point I am making is that if a fam is NOT playing to work up the ranks, then what is the point of playing the game? People are so wrapped around this idea that if they can't be the "top dog" then they will nip and gnaw at the other one's ankle until they drop. And then they use it all under the cover of "we won't go quietly into the night".

No the reality is that they are pissed they got hit, pissed they got beat, and their only way of holding on to their pride is by pulling down anyone they possibly can with them.

It has nothing to do with skill, more to do with common sense.

first of all, not everybody plays for the same reasons.  so GoL while you may play for rank that is fine but not everybody does.  personally i play by a "code" that promotes fighting and honing skill, not chumping out and paying for peace when things get scary.

this is why you and i are different.  you admitted yourself that if a bigger family did the same to you, that you would gladly pay the planets.  in my opinion this makes you a wimp.  i understand why you feel differently and i respect your opinion, but still in the end if i was designing a family of players i would pass on you because when the going gets tough you would rather sell out

that's not an insult though it may seem like one.  it's simply my perspective on your play style.

and you have it all wrong regarding the "top dog" thing.  most players in these situations are acting defensively.  there's no nipping and gnawing going on but rather a refusal to be the victim of extortion, as Valcona mentions.  as i've said before things might have been much different if you weren't saying "for every day you don't agree to pay, my demands go up by 15 planets".  people might have accepted defeat and moved on.  but you guys are not asking 7866 to accept defeat, you are asking them to let you extort them beyond defeat

everything you have stated is wrong because of this.  you don't understand why they are fighting back, only that they are.  you think they want to "bring you down" but in reality they simply are not agreeing to be extorted.  this is why i say you are not in touch with reality: you are misunderstanding the reasons and projecting your own flawed interpretation of events onto other people

this is wrong.  i've been in large families and i've lead them by the same code.  this isn't a matter of little guy wanting to be like a big guy.  this is simply a matter of different playing styles and different goals

Yeah your perspective on this is oddly different. I can see how you believe it, but it really is far off.

Its fine that you wouldn't want to draft me...I don't have some desire to be needed. Quite the opposite actually. But your kind I wouldn't want in my fam either. Your (and 66) type are the ones who will ruin other members rounds with your pride. Whereas I would rather give them a chance to recover from a loss and get payback later on.

What you like to call a "wimp" is actually being a male lion. If you ever watch how they manage conflict with other species (including their own) it is always about getting in and out with minimal damage. If they feel like they are "defeated" then they will back off and live to fight another day.

Then clearly your not as good as I thought you were. Let me post some stats for you to see if i am not being efficient, being lazy, being careless, not being skilled.

1. They are down a LOT of planets (and roughly 70% of their infra)
2. I pmoded 4 of their players (1 3x, 2 2x, 1 1x)

And I did all of this with half the fleet that he had! He had twice my fleet this entire war and what does he do? NOTHING! He does retakes...lots and lots of retakes on empty planets. Congrats!

I am where I am because I am strong. I win over 90% of any war I am associated in and typically the only wars that I ever lose are to those fams that are actually much bigger than me.

I am not here to get in a pissing match about my skill vs your skill...honestly, I dont remember if you are good or not at attacking. What I do know is that while a lot of people will run around screaming about how they do not "respect" me as an attacker, they constantly yama any fam I am in, and when it comes to war they take tedious care in planning for it. Why? because they know I am damn good.

I know I am good...there isn't even any real debate needed on the issue. And it isn't about me running around proving whether other people are bad or not...its about me playing the game for what it is intended. to win!

I'm not sure what else "empty hands" means here, and I have reports that show 66 up recently even if just a little bit.  Your memory is either bad or you're lying in order to save face.  Either way on top of all of this you've also proven that your statements have no integrity or basis in truth.  Nice job. =P

But yes, your ego is good for the game despite how tragically flawed your logic actually is.  The game will thrive on variety in personality types, including people such as yourself who think they are more skilled than they actually are.  If nothing else, you are great comic relief.
