Re: Galactic Declassification

1) What would you guys think of exposing every fam's news for the entire round after a round was over, and storing it permanently?

2) What would you think of doing so during the round, but after a certain window, say 2 (or more) IC years?

I can't see any reason not to do #1.  I do see problems with #2, but am interested in hearing player opinion.

Re: Galactic Declassification

What's the point of #1? I mean, what information are you trying to retain?  I'd rather much more be interested in storing things like the EOR Rankings, key stats (most captured planets, most incomes, etc etc) and qualitative stories (like you are doing with he Wiki - props!).  Raw family news data? Can't see the benefit of it as such.

#2, don't agree with this.  What a fam does during a round, is their own business (and their allies, if relevant).

Re: Galactic Declassification

for #1, it would actually serve qualitative storytelling; that's what gave me the idea.  i'm realizing how difficult it is to write about my family's round (something i intend to put on the wiki after round ends) as events are unfolding.  it's even more difficult to write about families i'm not involved in

this would allow anybody who is interested to analyze and write about a round after it is over, and the news would be from a neutral POV instead of just their family's.  it would give us a reference point to assist us in writing our history

from a development perspective, we could also use it to analyze behavioral trends.  on top of that, if the data is also exposed via an api we could allow players with itchy programming fingers the ability to write their own analyzation tools.  if any turn out to be particularly useful we could model in-game pages after them and credit the player for their contribution

for #2, i agree on not making this a default.  it could be interesting as a galaxy setting though

Re: Galactic Declassification

Neat idea. Do it.

Obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.
