for #1, it would actually serve qualitative storytelling; that's what gave me the idea. i'm realizing how difficult it is to write about my family's round (something i intend to put on the wiki after round ends) as events are unfolding. it's even more difficult to write about families i'm not involved in
this would allow anybody who is interested to analyze and write about a round after it is over, and the news would be from a neutral POV instead of just their family's. it would give us a reference point to assist us in writing our history
from a development perspective, we could also use it to analyze behavioral trends. on top of that, if the data is also exposed via an api we could allow players with itchy programming fingers the ability to write their own analyzation tools. if any turn out to be particularly useful we could model in-game pages after them and credit the player for their contribution
for #2, i agree on not making this a default. it could be interesting as a galaxy setting though
