I was looking through the wiki today and saw a reference on arsy's page about a "big HD crash" during round 2.  I was wondering if/hoping that anybody here remembers anything about that.

I do remember there was a very big crash at some point, in which IC was entirely offline for a few months around the end of the year.  The article dates Round 2 as somewhere in 2001, but I don't know if these two events are actually the same.

Does anybody remember this?  Any details to add?

Round 2 is correct. It was late 2001 to sometime early 2002. I remember the IP address would work for a while but the url wouldn't.

Obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

Yup, I remembering people who still needed an IC fix hanging out at Mace's ICMafia site.  I believe the crash was about 2 months.

It was December and January.  and it had to of been 2001-2002

The Ip did work for a little bit and then completely took a poo..

I was around for it, but my memory is bad sad  That's why I need help, to me I can't remember if this was the same thing as when we migrated to a temp IRC server for months, or if it was something different.  It sounds like it's the same event though.

Well I think people are confused. There was a crash in Round 2. However the BIG CRASH was later. Round 4.

I was joined IC right before HD Crash event big_smile

Then landed at random family in MW, then leaders and big guys deleted at first war big_smile, leaving me and some newbies to survive. I lead those newbies with simple task: "retake with 1 transport and 2 soldiers as much as you can, while I speak in galactic congress". All going well, and then the next 3 round become "Newbies in Action", "Newbies Revenge", "Newbies in Action" until reshufled. wink

The game changed after the HD crash.
It lost some of its magic and became alot more competitive

I have been in Grand Larceny's/ Zeus fam, the dragons fam and even in a family with you who were all decent or great tongue Dragons even won round one, if I remember correctly.

I remember the crash it was my first round I was in tri and I was in icer's family, the theme was something about the cold hehe. The crash that was really funny was when we got ric rolled
