Re: New galactic map!

Yet another update:

1* Scrolling by using keyboard - arrow keys and WASD.
2* Scrolling by using buttons.
3* Events option; for now, shows recent battles.
4* Map now remembers opened system.
5* Import system list function.
6* Export to system list function.
7* Various fixes, notably: reserved planets no longer count as unexplored; systems should not pop open after scrolling the map.
8* The map is now a bit responsive to window size; sidebar and planet list shrinks on small windows. The standard game sidebar, Dilithium, also does this now, and should be a bit more enjoyable to play with on a small screen (ie, mobile devices).

I've numbered so we kan diskuss in order.
1st of all thanks to Stefan for not letting his projekt die

also, I'm using Firefoz, the updated version

Please quote my posts to refer to a concrete point, so we're adding bugs/improvements keeping some order

Re: Your 1st impressions to the new updates

1*Arrow keys work ok, but WASD does not work.   Also a good improvement to this would be to allow the map scrolls while the key is held.

Re: Your 1st impressions to the new updates

2*I cannot see the "down" button, idk if you forgot about it or my screen size does not allow me to see it, I'm using 1200*800 in windows ZP, it's a standard resolution I guess, but it should be viewed even if you use 640*480

The "heart" icon takes you to your HomeBase, but again, it should appear centered in the screen (even when your HS is in the border).

Re: Your 1st impressions to the new updates

3* Its obviously unfinished job, so I supose Stefan will get on it soon.

atm causes some issues in the family news with those white ugly icons, and the tezt format has been affected too.

it also creates terrible stains in the map (LOL)

edit -> i just checked again and this is working in low res, every icon on its correct system and the legend is correctly showed. This means Stefan is working on it as we speak.

A hint => make icons much smaller, so when you see the map in higher res you can actually know which systems are affected.

A better hint -> allow this option only in the lowest resolution, so when you have it selekted in higher resolutions nothing can be viewed.  (and you save a lot of job tongue)

My guess is it remembers a system you opened

like how you could bookmark a system before maybe?

[13:43] <@RisingDown> never thought i'd say it, but TBO actually did something useful.
[13:43] <@arsy> dont let him see you say that
[13:43] <@RisingDown> oh shit

Re: Your 1st impressions to the new updates

5* Import system list function.
6* Export to system list function.

This is an awesome improvement, there's only a small bug when you Import a system list, the imported systems are marked in yeallow circles too big and not located where they should, like if it would belong to a smaller resolution, so I guees we're having some zooming issues again.  However when you save the list and select it, the coords seem to be ok.

Also a good improvement to this would be a format option:  the natural format (default) you're using here is not really useful when you want to send this coords in a msg.  So I would add 2 eztra bozzes, one to enable link format and the other to enable mapgen format

Link format (links to a system) -> system:xx,yy
Mapgen format (so people kan still use it) -> xx,yy:99  (99 or 1 or whatever)

This formats should be acepted also when you import a list

nope, no bookmark option, nothing has changed on this level.  It's still bugged also that you wont be able to open a concrete system using high resolutions, and in medium resolutions, when moving the pointer from one system to another the coord is still the same (for both systems)  hmm

I know now what's causing this bug:  the systems lists

if you have 0 systems lists then the "down" arrow is visible, if you have 3 systems lists you cannot see it at all, in you have more lists then the other arrows "left" and "right" and "heart" aren't visible.

I wonder waht will happen if I have 20 lists lol, this must be properly arranged tongue

Re: Your 1st impressions to the new updates

4* Map now remembers opened system.

thyat works, when u open a system then click to attack it or spec op it it opens up a new page, when u press back, it remembers what system u had open, but any settings u had set on the map like my systems or unexplored ect they still reset which is quite annoying.

half way there though.

Re: Your 1st impressions to the new updates

I need a 75 inch screen to make this map work. Half the screen is taken up blank on the left side. This is a friggen nightmare to look at
