Just TEST it

stupid answer Serenity, I thought you had a brain

reducing race points slows down teh game, increasing race points boost the game, right?

the round lenght will be the same, that's right, but you can do things faster, I'd even say set no limits for each ability but then people will whine about the standard races going obsolete, they are obsolete indeed nowadays, wake up, this is a very good idea, you could get an attacking race with 100% attack and 200% speed and send Caamar to the trashcan (or update it to the new times)

its called Aquarious Dwarf, but its closed right now because the dwarf got a date with an orc  tongue

Re: Once again

uhm can I bump this?

I see we have active devs now and maybe they're interested

Re: Once again

sure, and yes this is an interesting idea.  the only trouble i can see is that races are created before joining the galaxy, meaning there is a universal standard of sorts. i don't know if we should change that behavior because it currently allows people to create a race and save it as a favorite that they can re-use between rounds and across galaxies

what i can see as a way to sort of achieve what you are suggesting, is to have galactic level "race booster" setting that mods could adjust per-galaxy.  this would allow people to adjust their race on a per-round basis after they actually join a galaxy.  we would have to also adjust the default races as well when doing this so they won't be at a disadvantage by comparison.

thoughts?

Re: Once again

I dont think 30 more race points can make custom races more powerful than the standard races, but its a matter of testing it.
Oh and adjust race points when you join a galazy already started would be superb, it'd save a lot of job to mods also.

that's damn easy, they only have to re-do their favourite race and spend 30 more points, and maybe allow to keep the race name.
Other option is to add an "edit race" on the already created, but that means more job for you devs.

Re: Once again

it wouldn't necessarily make them "more powerful" than defaults but rather it would offset the current balance between custom races and default races.  we'd need to have a way to adjust defaults accordingly, so even if we do test it and find an imbalance it's something we could tweak easily.

Re: Once again

can you test it in a gal alone? or will the code change affect to all the gals?

Re: Once again

we currently can't do this at all, but that shouldn't stop us from talking about it.

ideally any changes like this will be settings that can be galaxy and round specific.  i don't think changes of this kind should be made to all galaxies at once
