Those clients also have to be legally notified of the breach otherwise you are directly breaking the law.

They probably did it because it was an old game and wouldn't be hard to do

I was telling a co-worker i didn't think it'd be worth it since there are only 100 (?) players active now. But i guess if you consider how many different people have played over the years that's a nice haul of email and passwords. Last i checked there were at least (hypothetically) over 90k player accounts that have been created

What i hard, GOndor is that we had around 50K passwords stored.

Stop beating the hacker drum. It is getting annoying. You all sound like a bunch of 'normal' zombie sheeple. You all gather 'round after a horrific tragedy for a candle light vigil and demand justice to be served to the individual(s) who committed this heinous crime.  You should all realize this is the sign of the times. We have all played this game for free for so long and when something jeopardizes our addiction the devs and mods jumped to action and have done their best to solve the security breach.

well, honestly, most of those old email adresses no longer eksist, as eksample I tell you my old hotmail adress was removed by stupid microsoft when migrating to that useless outlook stuff, and so has happened with any hotmail older than 2007.

So, in summary, what the hackers got with their stupid action was 100k email adresses where only 100 or 200 are really active and official, many others ineksistant, and many others obsolete by the time.

and like any other crisis this served to improve OUR game with a higher security level, so cheers to the modteam!

I think there some lessons to be learned here. One personally its opened my eyes reading this info that its probably a good idea to have an email only for games and Seperate from business or any information I wouldnt want out there if an angry player seeks revenge. Two IC is very competitive to those hardcore players some people spend alot of money over the years and get highly addicted. My personal guess and its only guess. Is that it was a player who specifically targeted the victims. If it was a bug or something wed all been hit by it. Maybe its time us as ic community thought more about making this game fun for everybody, less personal and lay down some of those egos. At the end of the day its only game, if you got an inactive in your fam who doesnt sign on everyday or doesnt aid the family bank as you'd like, or someone just whiped your fam clean whatever made this person this mad it should be taken out in the game. Don't ruin someones business or personal life for a game only 30 players actively play. If its someone playing a joke well it wont be funny if you get caught. No matter how good you think you are at something (like hacking) theres always someone better eventually and for that reason you should respect people. You piss off the wrong person it might not be so funny. If the person affected has a lot of money or depending on the importance of the business. They could easily do much worse to you.
