Chinese scientists have identified a biotic in the stomach capable of causing obesity, when they fought it they helped a 'large' man lose 66 pounds

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

lol

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Lipo? Just diet and exercise. That's free.

I'm 6'3" and 295 lbs. I'm medically obese. I do a health assessment every year. Perfect cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, etc. could I lose weight? Of course. Am I a fat lazy slob? Hell no. I move steel production molds by hand on a daily basis and work out on weekends.

It sickens me when I see fatass people in scooters because they cannot walk without practically dying. Being obese is a life choice. The only exceptions are rare medical conditions. And don't give me shit about your genetics or thyroid.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Actually, it's hard to lose weight because of the body's set point. Basically, your returns with start to plateau. That, and exercise doesn't burn enough calories. Exercise is good for maintaining a good metabolism and regulating appetite though.

But, the single most important thing is changing food habits. Flint, my state has diners at truck stops. They are like restaurants intended for truckers, and they sell good food. Really, they are some of the cheapest, high quality restaurants around. Dont you have them?

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

^ agree with that. I'm fairly active into sports etc. not so much as i use to be when younger. I got to about 205 plds and wanted to cut down some weight, not that i was over weight, so went to the gym alot more doing cardio etc but maintained the same weight for 3-4 years. About two months ago I stopped eating crackers and ate a fruit everytime instead and now the lightest i've been in years. Drinking lots of water helps to.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Until you learn anything about nutrition and the basics of digestion, nobody cares what you think.

Where did this "biotic" come from? Oh let me guess, 99% of people eat complete garbage, processed, chemical-filled, unhealthy-to-begin-with, GMO food. What a shock they can't digest it and they're unhealthy. Blame it on a "biotic" resulting from their horrible diets. Call it science! Every fat lazy slob who doesn't eat well will obviously agree that it's this vague culprit, not themselves and their ignorance of basic nutrition.

Like Arbolio3 said, fatasses on scooters are disgusting. They're just making their condition worse, and the fact that I socialize their medical care when they choose to live like that, incur those costs, and die like that, is disgusting. I'd rather help widows, wounded veterans, and 10,000 other people than lazy idiots. Other people deserve the help we give these slobs.

Rare medical conditions are rare. [cluck] the 99% of idiots claiming to have medical conditions causing their weight, because those slobs are liars too.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Diet is the key for weight and immunity.
Exercise/physical activity for aerobic and joint health.

Anyone who eats too many calories will get fat. Anyone whose diet isn't balanced and doesn't contain the key nutrients will be vulnerable to sickness.
Anyone who never exercises will get weak, lethargic and prone to physical injury.

If you work as a trucker sipping on fizzy drinks picked up from Superamerica - of course you're going to end with bad teeth and make Cartman look slender. Don't blame some bacteria in your gut; have the guts to do something positive.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Ditto to what Mace said.

In other words I am pretty sure most of what we know about obesity is correct.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

But but but, I'm fat and it's not my fault! So what if I eat 3,000 calories a day and only burn 1,500.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

So I feel drowsy much of the day because I need exercise?

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

I have issues excercising. I sit driving for 11 hours a day, sleep for 8, up for 2 doing game, food, pretrip of the truck, etc. I am disabled in the feet so feet based excercises are out. I do shadow boxing, and my upper body strength is decent.

I used to walk to keep weight in shape. The army (not on purpose ofc) ruined that.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

If it's because you're weak, yes. If it's because you don't sleep enough, maybe.

This stuff isn't rocket science.

The solution is simple: take a poo more often

You ought to watch that 'Fat, Sick, and nearly Dead' documentary about the obese truck driver if you havent already.. think its stil on netflix

Never rule out the possibility that you are a complete idiot

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Clearly Mace is ignorant

We don't work to normal human 24 hour days.

We drive 11, rest 10, drive 11, rest 10 sort of stuff.

I do get some excercise, I buy chicken rather than beef, I eat all but raw tomatoes and peppers, I take bee pollen, fish oil supplements, herbal green tea extracts, and eat buffet not for quantity but quality (My nutritionist wants me to eat greens, so lettuce, pea's, broccoli, and green beans) such as carrots, chicken breast, and soups. I eat carrots cause it helps eyesight and I drive a lot at night.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

Einstein - lay off the ad hominems or at least finish a sentence:
Clearly Mace is (not fully aware/ignorant) of the truckers' lifestyle and work pattern.
You spelt out your day. Work, sleep, cook/shop/eat. And it added to 21 hours. So, there's time either in the working day or on days off to exercise.

Clearly your diet is 'healthy' in terms of balance. Though I would wager too much salt and sugar. But your portion controls are obviously wrong. You sit down all day - so can survive fine on about 1500-1700 calories. Once a week you should fast and just consume water. You may wish to consume alginic acid to help satiate the stomach.

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

My portions would have starved me back when I was in the army. I have no 'portion problem'

Consider:  a foot long sandwhich was a satisfactory breakfast, lunch, dinner (1 sandwhich eaten partially three times a day)

I don't have portion problems

Re: What if all you thought about Obesity was wrong?

What does how much you ate when you burned far more calories than you do now have to do with the appropriateness of those same portions now?

Because you burned 5000 calories/day when you ate 5000/day, now that you burn 500/day and continue to eat 5000/day, clearly it's not your portions?

You can't be serious.
