Re: Refund? :O

You may have already noticed this has been implemented into the game, but for those of you that haven't you will now get a % of your resources refunded when canceling builds in progress.

yikes

That only took 12 years big_smile

Re: Refund? :O

What if a full refund is given if it is cancelled the same tick that the building was built and the refund percentage decreases for each tick that passes once the building is ordered.

Re: Refund? :O

Possible Abuse of the 100% back in same tick:
If people are opping your cash/resources you could hide it in infra and get it all back if you cancel it just before tick.  It would be safer then hiding it on the market or passing it to other players.

Re: Refund? :O

indeed, but it will be abused anyway, if you are getting 75% back of it and you want full save mode just start...what about?... 10k transports? and retrieve 75% of that cash/ressies by cancelling those 10k transports the tic before they're built. Now figure what's your tic decay if you don't build them, and the risk to be opped.

someone do the maths please (not me, I'm not playing)
smile

I spoke about a penalty of 40% or 50%, even in the same tic, anything below 40% gonna be abusable.

also please mods, talk about penalties, not refunds, its kinda confusing imo, the penalty right now is at 25% only (I'd abuse it from the start and my family would have the best savings at midround big_smile)

Re: Refund? :O

before anyone answers, I'd like to give a right solution:

by starting infra you are occuping space in your planets, so if you're abusing the new 'impoorvement' by doing infra you are actually wasting buildable land in your empire: lets say you build 1000 RCs, you need around 4 empty planets for that purpose that will never be ezploited with infra, only for this abuse, you'd need to build much more than 1000 RCs to make it a profitable abuse, and that means a lot of buildable land wasted just to save cash & some endu, this is not a good deal, you can keep it at 25% penalty.

but by starting units you arent occuping any space of any class at all, because it's limitless, so you do the trick with 10k tranports and voila! in the nezt wave you do it wiht 100k transports, this is a great abuse! big_smile a good deal.
So the penalty for cancelation of units should be really harsh, 40% or 50% like I mentioned.

And dont get me wrong, I'm not against this or other improvements, and I'm glad to see things moving so fast lately in the dev team, but the problem comes when 'our' devs start using their precious time to arrange our silly mistakes  (yes building the wrong amount of units/infra is a silly mistake).  In real life, if you are ordered to build a refinement station, and you deliver a museum, you wont get anything back ezcept a kick in your arse, same if you are ordered to train soldiers and you build tanks that nobody can drive hmm

Re: Refund? :O

if the decay rate is .5% then it would take something that buildsfor roughly 3 days just to equal this decay rate outright. and that should mean with my lazy hand math that any partial used sum wont equal out for days aswell. thus 25% penalty should be enough

Re: Refund? :O

please add a rounding feature! i dont like seeing .75 of a peice of food, who took a bite of my cookie? D;

Re: Refund? :O

aaand correct me if im wrong but the market has no time limit and it takes less than 25%? so than building transports for some time just to cancel could be a way to avoid opping... at a fee of 25%... thats mafia prices

Re: Refund? :O

ty for doing some maths, but dont forget the more you have the more you lose on bureocracy penalty, and dont forget that in war times the fambank is normally opped (even market stocks), this is where my reasoning lays smile

Re: Refund? :O

even for it to be a safe haven from opps, i would gladly allow the enemy to "save" resources this way as it would be hitting 25% of everything they had to pay, so gc, iron, and endu most likely, thats one expensive opp....and as your bank increase its still .5% which is a linear relation. so the math doesnt change.

Re: Refund? :O

Logical..

"As stated by the Imperial Constitution, signed at the Constitutional Convention on 2787. Imperialists issuing a new construction are obligated to a down payment of a sum equal to 100% of the total estimated construction costs. Contractors engaging in construction projects are obligated to refund 75% of the complete down payment after cancellation from either party at any time during this process. All costs exceeding their estimation fall to their behalf."

As I have said before. Us devs work on multiple bigger and smaller projects. Obviously some of the smaller projects won't be as "important" as others.

Re: Refund? :O

You might find it odd, but we did actually think this trough. A bit of rounded math. Taking 12 ticks time to save on transports you have a potential 6% gain against the 25% penalty.

Re: Refund? :O

alright then, glad you did not spend a lot of time/efforts to implement this one

please consider the part when I say "...our' devs start using their precious time to arrange our silly mistakes"  for nezt ideas of this class. Thanks. smile
