This is an awesome change, in my opinion, and one where a lot of feedback is needed!  Stefan has done a great job implementing this, and hopefully you can all see the benefit!

It's in no way complete, so this is the time for feedback, and your chance to influence the way this Map works.  Please provide any feedback in using the Map here, and anything that does not work, or you would like added too!


Also note, that the existing map is still available through the link at the top of your HQ screen.



Edit:  I'm going to add a few To Do list and improvemens here as the feedback rolls in, so we can get this going.



Bugfixes

- Throughout IC everything is 'centred'.

Using Dolphin web browser on a Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II and it hard crashes dolphin and running aps.

I will try with my Samsung Galaxy Tab II later and my Windows 7 laptop.


Dolphin is set on desktop mode as well if this is essential information.

Scrolling in and out are to big or to small (and can it be implanted that with the mouse scroll it zooms in and out. ?)

When I click on "Show portal travel times" it crashes

Says script is not working.

On tablet. Partially loads only. I get  a side bar (fam 33 showed up for some reason) but no map.

No options work either.

My phone hates it. Hard crashes everytime

If i click "family" it shows me another fam

and map doesnt look good, would be nice if would like like in mapgen
otherwise make ppl to choose which one they want, cuz that one isnt that good
also it keeps freezing

Map seems to work fine on other server...we aren't sure why it's not working on live. Stefan is busy looking into it! Please have patience.

Arby: A very strict mod, reminds me of a fat redneck who drives a truck around all day with a beer in one hand. I hated this guy at the start, however, I played a round in PW with him where he went as an anonymous player. Our fam got smashed up and everyone pretty much left. Coords are there if you hover your mouse over the system.  Or should be, at least!

I cant open systems from the map view. I'm using a tablet with Android 4.0 and the Dolphin browser in desktop mode. I try to click open a system and the whole screen flashes like i pressed one big button and nothing happens.

Also, in most cases there is no mouse to hover when you're using a tablet or smart phone so there's no way you can see the coordinates for the systems.

I have a dock with a keyboard/touchpad for my tablet. No coordinates appear when i hover the mouse pointer or they appear after a very long  time. I can't choose any of the filter options or buttons

What if you added a link to the new map on the old map page so people could choose to load the old map or the new map from the map page? it'd be more noticeable then the link  on your HQ page

Well, the idea is that this will eventually replace the old map.

But we consider this as an Open "Beta" for the players.  Only limited testing we could do on the development server, so we thought it's best to bring it here and get some feedback from the players and iron out issues at the same.  Didn't think it'd be too much of a problem, considering the old map hasn't been touched.

Funny how something unrelated (really) affects other parts of IC ....like all the texts being centred tongue  Working on stuff like that though.

But yea, in the mean time, ironing out issues and making it more usable is the idea!

yeah i only meant the choice for now until you can field a more finished object. i think it's like a gantt chart where you have the legacy system overlapping with the new one until it's all integrated seamlessly. knowing IC any time you add something, something else is going to have issues tongue

Good luck with that smile  seeing Stefan posting more than 3 lines and working to improve "his" game is really a good signal of IC recovering from crisis, or waking up from ashes I should say.

I want to find a completely improved game whenever I get back, and hundreds of new people joining the community and staying with us.
