Can someone make a tool so you can paste all your SOT/Visions into a box and it will calculate total amounts.

update to silenz already does it
yes im quite sure hes aware of that lol. i think he means within the game itself
yeah external tools are pointless, just put them ingame
Hey Orbit, why would external tools be pointless? Don't they both get the job done? And imo I use silenz.org so often, too me its pretty much internal =P
As with all the updates (needed/suggested for IC), seeing an external site already provides the tool/sollution you want and Elro has a million things to do, I think (although it is a very good suggestion) for the time being it is not something Developers will give such a high priority too as you would like ![]()
If this should be converted into an ingame tool, they also should get the other tools from silenz integrated with IC
if the developers could get the code from silenz.org it wouldnt be hard for them to make it internal, (add another page or 2) its just a matter of if the person who made it would provide the code...
that way it wouldnt take very much time for the developers to implement at all.... however if they had to write it all themselves it would stretch it out...
Sol, External tools are proving how lazy our developers are, that other guys are having to make tools and put them on another crappy website. It's a needless hassle having to do all the SIMPLE things anywhere other than IC. The new cost calculations are a great addition which should of been done years ago, keep going.
Um..I feel external tools are exactly like smartphone apps. It's better that IC developers stay the heck away.
Agreed - to an extent.
External Tools are great. If it's not done within IC, and there's a way to do it outside of it, it's great that players can get involved with making their own tools. This isn't just an IC thing, it's a game thing.
Most games online, have the player-base making their tools and stuff. Even WoW, people make their own mods and interfaces and then people patch them to the game. Similarly other online web-based games, allow the use of Greasemonkey tools to modify the game to suit how the player wants to play. And help them.
Yes, if a tool is being used enough - then it's a nice idea to bring that into the game. WoW does this too. If something becomes such a requirement by the player-base, that it is practically a necissity - then Blizzard brings it into the game.
Even IC does it. Examples are:
- Linkifier (existed as a tool first, which someone brought into the game).
- Unit/Build Cost Calculation (albeit very late, but awesome that's its here now)
So yea, Orbit's idea is nice, to bring in some tools that are most used or made convenient. Otherwise though, I see the need for tools to exist and players will always want to make things easier for themselves by developing their own little things.
The 1st reason to not have those tools implemented in the game code is the server load, and this has always been a good reason, if you want an efficient game engine keep it appart from secondary tools and use ezternal sites to do it.
However, silenz.org is part of the game itself and should be placed as DEFAULT ezternal web site (in the leader's page of any family)
Even more, we have only 1 link to ezternal websites into the game (in the family page), why not having 2 or 3 packed in one??
What I mean, and sorry for using ur thread Orbit, is that leaders can place 2 or 3 or more ezternal websites for family use, the way when you click "ezternal web site" link, all the ezternal websites are opened in new tabs.
Ezample (in leader's page):
Ezternal web site by default -> Silenz.org
Ezternal web site 1 -> [empty]
Ezternal web site 2 -> [empty]
^ all of them are opened when u click the link in the family page
Missing the x key?
I try to diversify my work. Aside from bug fixing, I work on bigger projects as well as smaller projects (such as these tools). So I will add more stuff like this along the way. Reason to do it internally would be because it would be an official tool and less prone to be bugged and or at least someone can be held responsible. Also much of the tools are just extractions of already existing game code. Why use some insane tool to retrieve data, data that I already have at my disposal.

Why use some insane tool to retrieve data?
1 for server efficience (as I mentioned)
2 for the game display, how do new people look at the game when they 1st login?? do that question yoursefl -> A lot of stuff to read, strange numbers here and there and few few graphics. Most people runs away at 1st sight.
Now if you want to implentent game statictics iinto the game code thats's alright, but make it optional, so not averyone sees them at 1st sight.
u get me?
So getting a new user to copy paste stuff to calculate things is less confusing than using a button saying "calculate costs".
Server load might only be the 1 some what valid point. But every action takes a piece of server load but purposely leaving out features to save server load makes no sense.
