This morning I woke up and started the hyper speed warp drive powered up by the bass,
It gave me the joystick to steering away, from the Milky Way,
I got to keep moving into an other dimension!

Hold up! Now change lanes taken it too another speed, trying to find a galaxy!
Over the cosmos where its just so beautiful and free!
I see pretty lights their flashing making me re imagine,
all the crazy things that Ive seen!

I'm having flash backs like whiplash of free styling aliens!
Ripping it up from their homebase then they ask to leave 'em alone

I'm seeing microscopic I don't know how to stop it
Its all a little crazy in this zone, lets go!

I searched endlessly for the perfect galaxy,
where expression is currency in a karma economy.

I think its possibly around the corner up on the right!

If people wernt spending all last night badgering mods to get it reset asap, some more thought may have gone into it, but everyone wanted it reset right now!

But I agree, it's needs smaller family size and about 100 less systems smile

Fam sizes should be 7 max and at most 600 systems

Fam size smaller, and the inactive effect is greater. 2 inactives kill a fam of 5 and cause the rest to go inactive. With 2 or 3 inactives in a fam of 8 you can at least make a decent go at the round. Hell, I did ok enough last round with just 2 1/2 actives. Get players to actually play and not piss the round away because they aren't in a full active fam then we will be able to lower the fam size.

As for system count, I played with the randomizer for 30 minutes trying to get a better number. It gave me either 400 or 750. I was lucky it spit out the number it did that I used. I tried a number of settings, from 40x40 or even 40x60, etc...and got the same result. The system isn't perfect, but to change it a new one will need to be designed.

You guys should make a topic for PW round 75 and put all your idea's together. I think thats something that would help the mods fine tune the settings for future rounds.

Fact is, mods had too little time to know what everyone prefers. Due to recent IC change of splitting MW from PW accounts, PW player base will change with people switching back&forth.


Learn from it and get it right for next round though, lets ride this one out first smile

Hmmm ok I agree on the fam size issue, but the amount of systems is way too many, I understand it's not your fault and actually a system design but there has to be a way around that.

We had a round long expo phase last round and I still think if we added another two weeks to the round there would still be empty planets.

Too many systems:

Expo phase too long, families of all ranks constantly grow, semi-active players still have something to do, more difficult to defend cores.

Not enough systems:

Quick expo phase, family size difference are closer, family net worth is closer, promotes farming, players go inactive, promotes napping everybody, diplomacy more important, easier to defend core.



Both have advantages/disadvantages.

The compromise is getting a good number of system. Somewhere between 400 and 700 would have been better, but with the tools we have, I was not able to achieve that setup.

most of us log in all day even refreshing HQ when we know nothing has happened but maybe someone has messaged us.... we thrive on IC if IC dies we die.... (extreme case) lol
EDIT: I forgot the point i was making before submitting lol, basically even a day without logging in is scary! so a long reset time is lame!

but yeah as mods they should be waiting for maybe the last week of round to know what went right and what went wrong in terms of setup, not once the round had finished so they do a rushed job in resetting.. and get "badgered" to reset  it.

Actually Metrex, we do start a discussion around the last week if the round. Hash out the good, bad, ugly, and get a setup model for the next round. If there is a delay, it's because there is something specific we are waiting on.

Last night in #mod people kept hollering for it to be reset. I was in the middle of cooking, so was distracted. A distracted Arby3 while resetting a galaxy equals a broke galaxy, so I finished the reset when I was done cooking.

poor mods they're trying to build highways with a donkey and a cart.  I know you're doing ur best, try asking Ps how to do it, or locate Arsy wherever he is, this was never an issue.
As for the inactives ruining fams, all you have to do is a player pool like the one I designed 2 (or 3 or 4) rounds ago and you'll get all the fams balanced and competitive.  Then again I'm up to do that job for you, but you never gave me the go sad
