Re: Attack a hovering fleet

So if you are a space faring civilization and a huge fleet is detected hovering your planet, should you not have the ability to trigger an attack against that fleet?

Obviously you would be limited to using figs, but if you trigger first you can reduce the attacking force size or destroy the incoming fleet..

A report would be needed to indicate a hovering fleet and that fleet should appear in a section of your fleets page with an attack prompt.

maybe an opp for that

defensive opp ... 1 opp forgone for offensive stuff

Re: Attack a hovering fleet

no need for a report, you have that info in a simple infil, you'd just need an option to fire the superlasers (those who can fire further than the planet atmosphere, they'd be 10% of your lasers built in that planet).

However, I can't see a real use of this option to make it worth, because in a war, most of the arriving fleets are triggered at tic. The only good use is for banker's defense against raids, but again, most of the raided planet are poorly lasered (or none).

Re: Attack a hovering fleet

A lot of bankers fleets are sometimes hovering just waiting for an attacker to take the planet.

I can see a use for this, and also even if the fleet is triggered same tick, if you are active and online you can still hit the fleet before the attacker triggers.

Re: Attack a hovering fleet

nah allow defender's droids to attempt to board and capture it

see they lie on a plate with a spool of monofilament fiber, and the laser fires under the plate and sends it spinning into orbit, so the droid comes up near a fighter or transport.  Then the droid duct tapes the fiber to the enemy vehicle, tugs twice on the line, and they winch them back down to the planet.

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: Attack a hovering fleet

I believe the order of Battle is Figs vs Figs first anyway, so technically this already happens. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

Re: Attack a hovering fleet

A lot of attackers will trigger right at end of tick in hopes that person has sent ranged fleets and hit no fleet. So it's not always just at beginning of tick
