Re: Cool New EUSSR Symbol!

Nice going, guys!

http://www.lacomeuropeenne.fr/

Props on the predominance of the hammer and sickle. What does it mean? Why is it on top, and why does it appear more than any other symbol? Is this a symbol of freedom?

[TI] Primo doubted this was an official symbol of anything. Bartman closed my thread on account of this unfounded doubt, and obviously without any knowledge of the topic and without having looked into the topic the SLIGHTEST bit.

This poster was on display at the European Commission.
http://ec.europa.eu/
(Europa.eu is the official website of the European Union.)

http://europa.eu/about-eu/institutions-bodies/european-commission/index_en.htm
(The European Commission is one of the main institutions of the European Union.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Commission
(The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the Union's treaties and day-to-day running of the EU.)

This information is readily available. What excuse do you have for not knowing this and closing a thread out of your own lazy ignorance? That this poster was on display at the European Commission is easily verifiable. (I could post another 3+ links verifying this in a minute). That the European Commission is VERY officially EU should be common knowledge and was easy to verify repeatedly in seconds.

Is this gross incompetence or open censorship of topics which are permitted to be posted here? Why is the content of official EU communication material BANNED from this forum? Are we not permitted to talk about it if YOU are uncomfortable with us talking about it? Please advise.

I am aware that reposting is technically against the rules. But, considering that you very clearly closed the original thread for absolutely no reason other than your own ignorance and laziness (and the thread, thus, had absolutely no reason to be closed to begin with), it's either re-open the topic or you're openly censoring the content permissible on this forum out of personal political preference. Again, please advise.

Re: Cool New EUSSR Symbol!

You're making yourself look ridiculous and insulting our intelligence - even more than usual.

If you even bothered to research just a little bit you would see that:

The poster that your're wetting your pants over is not, never has been and never will be an official poster of the EU.

"The poster is not a European Commission poster. It was part of a series of posters hanging in a corridor which were made by artists in the context of a competition by the Czech Council on Foreign Relations. This competition was not funded by the EU"

But as usual with you, don't let evidence get in the way of rhetoric.

Re: Cool New EUSSR Symbol!

My mistake. I thought this was a place to post and discuss such evidence, not personally attack others as you just did.

Obviously, because you've said so, the fact that the EU displayed this ignorant, hateful garbage is irrelevant to absolutely all conversation which could be appropriate to a politics forum. The fact that such garbage is produced and even displayed in an EU building is obviously completely uninteresting to everyone on earth.

Since you're concluding absolutely that its content means NOTHING, you'd presumably be alright with swastikas being displayed in the exhibit too, since it wasn't technically payed for by the EU. I find your position rather offensive.

Re: Cool New EUSSR Symbol!

I am with Kemp. It was displayed at a promiment location, it has some unique symbolism present, it presumably was chosen over other works for display, it is in context political symbolism which is allowed in the politics forum and the closing did seem wrongful to me.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)

Before I closed your other thread, I was kind enough to ask you where you were going with it. After this post it is now clear what direction that was.

First of all, you posted a link to an article in french, which by itself would be enough to close it since the only official language in the forum is english.

But more importantly, you fail in two different assertions: the EU does not have any official symbol connecting itself to communism or any other ideology. It is however composed by national representatives who are elected in the member states; and yes, some are communist. Communist parties are still a significant part of the political picture in Europe, and obviously their symbol is the hammer and the sickle.

So if the EU chooses to display a picture containing the symbol of many of its legally elected representatives, it's in its own right to do so, even if it does not officially represent anything. Either the hammer or sickle or any other symbol in there.

Now as I previously suspected, this is nothing but a hate thread, so I am going to close it again.
