these charts show that prior to the stock market crach in october crude was well over 100 dollars and even up to 150 durring bush's term it has never been that high since, durring obama's term. just saying obamas "failed policies" have still outperformed bush's being the oil man that he is

Actually the drop in oil prices came from 1 presidential decision.

George W. Bush decided to open up our coastlines for drilling. Prices dropped like a rock after that.

Obama could do the same.... he won't.

Romney will do it and easily. And Romney will reverse Obama's no drilling on Federal lands [effective] ban.

Oil can drop as low as $50 a barrel under a Romney Presidency and also result in lower transport costs of the oil.

Gas prices have dropped over 80 cents in the past month here. Gas has dropped from a high of ~3.95 to ~3.10

Arby: A very strict mod, reminds me of a fat redneck who drives a truck around all day with a beer in one hand. I hated this guy at the start, however, I played a round in PW with him where he went as an anonymous player. Our fam got smashed up and everyone pretty much left. I keep asking why a steam engine can't turn an alternator to power electric motors, instead of carrying a $5,000 battery that dies in 7 years.

The answer seems to be:

1. Nobody but steam geeks gives a damn about steam!

I thought price hikes in California was due to explosions at refineries. Since gas prices is controlled by the president and the president alone, Obama must be the one that caused the explosions. Obama sure is damn powerful if he can control explosions. And, if he can control explosions, he ought to be using those powers towards his political goals, like a normal person would. I don't see how higher gas prices works for him especially in the middle of an election season when there are other explosions that he could do that would produce more tangible results.

If he allowed drilling then prices in Oregon would bw $2 a gallon and trucks would haul gas south to sell for $2.45

That's what they said, and it's great that they fixed it so quickly then.  It's as if opening a grand jury enquiry sped up maintenance or something.  But of course we know its just coincidence.

Obama wants higher gas prices because he wants to destroy the car economy.  Like all his other programs, they achieve success by crippling alternatives.  That's why everything he does is based on mandates, monopolies and bans.  The progressive agenda is wholly destructive.

Oh and CA has its own gas standard, so it cant use gas from other states.  And Obama could have broken that up, like Bush did after Katrina halted Gulf Oil drilling.  But Obama wants higher gas prices.  He wants to shrink and wither that portion of the economy that is helped by oil production and oil consumption.  As he told the Gulf oil workers after he banned oil drilling in the Gulf for a time, "Whats the problem, you can get benefits"

You misunderstand my question. I have no trouble believing there is lots of recoverable oil in the US. I have no trouble believing we could be energy independent. More oil drilled > more oil supply > lower prices. I understand this basic market theory. My question was, how did you arrive at $2? Why not back to $1?

What are you talking about? You made the claim that gas prices will be $2. I asked you to prove it. How is that question vague and indeterminable, especially since you made another claim that the answer is well cited? Look, you're the one making the claims so the burden of proof is on you.
