Right.  How do you draw the distinction, then?  If a family of all SS is 100% screwed because they don't aid out... how does that not mean, on a microcosm level, a family with one SS is less likely to succeed than an equivalent family with no SS, all other things being equal?

Some SS players are very good at playing IC,  much better than fam based drones. 
I still believe that small team play can beat family bank systems.

I think SS players should be allowed to play ic without being bullied by their leaders, so if it means giving them their own family,  why not.   

SS players have to learn IC,  fam bank players get told what to do, but never learn it personally.

This might be a lil off-topic but just wanted to share some thoughts on SS vs fam bank here.

SS is way more fun to play than this fam bank system everyone is forced to use now.

When you are SS you have to manage production of gc as well as resources, manage upkeeps cutting into your cash income, manage defences, manage morale (you can't just go and take 30-40 planets in one hit from an enemy early round because you are not planet lean like hc attackers). And all these things integrate beautifully within an empire.

While with the specialized roles and fam bank system, each player only has to manage 1 of these many things and its only the 1 or 2 infra-leaders in a fam who have some overview and management of the various resources combined. Like Orbit said, most new players or less skilled players simply follow orders instead of understanding the strategy or thinking behind them and never really learn the game.

Overall, SS is more interesting, more strategic and more fun in terms of gameplay than specialized roles and fam bank. But the latter is more effective and efficient so everyone is forced to play like that to remain competitive.

even one smaller than orion nebula would work, and Elro this is not against team play, its just give a home to those who want to play alone..
However, joining this gal should count as joining MW or PW, so people does not use it as a secondary place to idle

I doubt our community can handle much more. It will make players from MW/PW more inactive or not join at all.

Personally I agree with Jag. But family play is something that makes IC different from other games. All and all it is not my decision to decide which is better, I just have my doubts on adding more galaxies to please the individual needs.

A trial round (maybe in PW?) would be better. It would be great if you could enable SS without disabling intra-family aid altogether as that does seem to take too much away from team-play. Family members need to be able to help other fam members with resources in times of distress. Maybe put a limit of one outgoing aid shipment to each empire in the family per day or something?

The other (imo better) option is to do it through game changes that restrict attacker/banker system and promote SS but that will require quite a bit of work and maybe a couple of trial rounds to get it perfected.

Give SS there own galaxy and start it during the same time as MW  and PW and let it run normal. u cant play in both. That way MW and PW fams wont be bothered with SS individuals and SS players wont be bothered with MW and PW Family oriented play.

Mind you that galaxy will probably have less than 20 players or 30 or so. but this would give Regular galaxy leaders the freedom to kill any SS players for legit reasons.. Now when Leaders kill of SS players because there doing there own thing, it looks kind of bad but with a SS galaxy in place OTHER than Orion then you will make the SS players happy and the regular galaxy players happy.

In no way do I see this increasing the ammount of players etc for the game, this is solely to seperate SS players from regular galaxies

I am SS and make as much as the two real bankers in the family make combined cash wise along with my own resources.  But I handle all op requests for the rest of the family and occasionally aid them if their two bad bankers can't give them enough but I never ask for anything in return.  Being S/S is only bad if you are fully uncooperative with your family
