Re: Cancer Research a Front for HIV Weaponization

kingsnine & Baratheon, neither of you answered my simple and legitimate question. You provided absolutely no reason, despite all of your bloviating, why anybody cares or should care. What possible relevance are you claiming this outlandish hypothetical has to politics? We're on page 2 and you've offered nothing beyond "what if cancer research money is being embezzled to fund aids weaponization!? omg!"

I described the thread as asinine because it is. It has no purpose whatsoever. Its "what if" is pure fantasy with no connection to politics. It's not a serious thread. It's not asking questions with any bearing on the real world (and you never even tried to make the case that it did). It's just random spam. I've questioned what you think you're getting at with this bizarre hypothetical and you have been clear in your response: absolutely nothing.

Re: Cancer Research a Front for HIV Weaponization

What finer points

You ask me to consider whether Cancer Research is not about ending cancer
AND
HIV Research is not about ending the epidemic of HIV
AND
that the government wants to weaponize a virus without a vaccine
AND
that this govt effort must be done so secretly that it has to deny its existence with a cover story.

Re: Cancer Research a Front for HIV Weaponization

if the US govt was gonna weaponize AIDS we'd just do it, and then Assange would publish the details

no need to set up a useless organization to cover it up

and we know how others would do it

Re: Cancer Research a Front for HIV Weaponization

Baratheon, what are the finer points of the topic? You haven't made any points, let alone "finer" ones.

My behavior does not qualify as trolling. My question was/is completely legitimate and on-topic. It's you who has refused to answer my question or otherwise post any content related to the thread's subject since creating it. My question is completely on-topic. You're completely off-topic.

This isn't rocket science. You're just raging about me to see if you can get me banned while you break the rules. Pretty funny stuff. smile

kingsnine, neither of you answered my questions.

Words have meaning. I didn't "group" you with what's-his-face in some general sense, I simply stated that neither of you answered the simple question I asked of you.

What "brush" fires are you talking about? Nobody here is discussing anything. I asked what possible relevance you thought this hypothetical had to politics and you couldn't give me any answer whatsoever. Referencing discussion that isn't happening doesn't create discussion. Nor does random trolling about social democracy, Einstein, beers, etc.

Re: Cancer Research a Front for HIV Weaponization

Okay, I'm going to say this once.

13. Do not make public accusations of rule breaking and do not discuss certain blocks in the forum
To improve the mood in the forums, public discussions of the above are not allowed. Issues and questions regarding rule breaking and blocks should be addressed to the moderators (ways to contact mods are listed in the FAQ).

There's a good reason why this rule exists.  The reason is exactly what just happened.  There was a topic here.  However, 80% of the posts became questions of suspected rules violations within the thread, and later violations outside the thread.  I attempted initially to be courteous and address issues.  I attempted to suggest alternative methods by which complaints could be addressed.  That didn't work.  So here's the warning.

If you suspect someone of trolling or otherwise breaking the rules, there are three different methods that can be pursued to take action against them:
1: Go on IRC.  Find a moderator or forum moderator.  Talk to them.  Include links to the posts which you deem to be evidence of the problematic behavior in question.
2: Click the little "report" button on the post in question.  Please include a solid explanation of why you believe the post in question is in violation of the rules (Warning: Moderators HAVE issued blocks against people who have abused this function by blanket reporting every post they see.  If it becomes obvious that the person issuing the report is excessively not using discretion in determining if posts should be reported, that can constitute spam of the moderator report interface, and can result in a block.  Make sure you have a solid justification for reporting someone before issuing that report.  Otherwise, you're wasting moderator time which could be used to address actual instances of trolling.)
3: Send an email to the moderators (Actually, I'm not sure if the mod email is working, so consider this half a suggestion).

That's it.  Publicly accusing someone of breaking the rules is in itself a rules violation.  Don't do it.  The politics forum is for discussing world issues.  It's not for discussing the rules associated with the discussion of those issues.  Keep it that way.
