I do wonder what solar system has 24 habitable planets, and those rock ones honestly don't look all that appealing IMO.
Well, a fam needs to work on motivation and willingness to play. It's part of managing a fam. Your excuse for not having more, is just that: An excuse.
Just like my fam has the excuse of having 3 active players, none of them actual hardcore attackers. But it's just an excuse. We lost, and there's nothing more to it.
Surely, if we had more overall activity, and attackers that didn't delete out of the blue (eg Lee), we would have had more planets as well.

Sounds like an excuse? ![]()
Did you totally miss the point of my post, or something? ;p
Galaxy being too big is definitely a major problem, but there are plenty of others as well which contribute to the current sad state of affairs.
Builder strat (gives a giant incentive to make naps and build cheaply with builders deep into the round)
Seperate Economy and Resourcing sciences instead of 1 (makes SS even worse than it already was compared to banker/attacker setup)
Inactive tag (biggest bug in the game currently)
Game mechanics promoting infra passing intra-fam
All this stuff promotes infra-ing so much more than fighting that infrawhoring has inevitably become the status quo.
I could go on but whats the point? Highlighted all these issues over 6 months ago but the current game administration doesnt seem up to the task of understanding such game-design problems and even if they did, I don't know if they have the developer resources to implement the fixes.
And to all the people who think the way forward is to change player mentality and somehow get them to play in a more in-efficient manner (less eco, more fighting, less naps etc.) it hasn't happened for 10+ years and I can't see it happening now. The change in attitudes of players has to come from rewards/punishments implemented in the game mechanics, not from community member's requests or demands.

Talic we did that last round. Complete domination. This round we lost paytime, teddy and hydrop. I was stuck by myself trying to attack. The sad part is I tried to draft an attacker to help me out and nobody responded. Just another problem with IC. There's just not enough good attackers to go around.
True, Spam. But then you won the last four rounds, not this round. Simply because it's near impossible to have 3-4 attackers active for 5 rounds in a row, since, you know, attacking takes a lot of time being active ;p
Nah. It wasn't just the fact that we didn't have attackers. Most fams give in rather than fight us. All asking us for PNAPs which spam gave out freely! (not blaming u spam=p). But fams are so scared of fighting that its so funny.
A very clear example of this is 49 and 54 who PNAPped us instead of agreeing to fight a cancellation war at the end. Maybe it's their strategy to win the round?Must say it did work for 54 and nearly for 49 but still, what's the fun in that.
I think part of the problem with finding attackers is the fact that as soon as someone chooses attacker, there fam expects them to be online 24/7 if need be and 99% of the time thats just not possible. On the other hand, I am a believer in picking the role that suits your activity, so if you will only be able to play for 2-3 ticks a day, attacking is prob not a good fit for you.
I myself prefer attacking to any role in the game but I very rarely do it because I put too much pressure on myself to be on as much as possible and then RL suffers haha.
One thing I am seeing less and less of though is active retakers who arent attackers. People seem to think that just because your attack bonus doesnt say +50% that you dont need to send retake fleets, simply not true.

Wish we had people in our fam that were on top of retakes like you
Honestly there is a solution if this game is boring you: go attacker in a mid-ranked fam and war all the top fams. It is great, tons of fun. If you're in a top family and bored, why don't you fight other top fams instead of napping them all? There isn't any need for a solution from the mods, it's all up to you how you play the game. If you're bored in a top fam, leave the fam and try something else. Once you stop caring about winning the round (with like 100 active players this doesn't even mean anything anymore) you allow yourself to just roll with the punches and enjoy the game for what it is, Imperial CONFLICT.

How can you say that? Lee deleteing is THE NORM, not out of the blue

sorry but you're wrong. your fam was at 33 mil NW (and well within 40% of our fam NW) when we finally dropped enough NW (we had to drop a total of 70 mil NW to hit you guys
) to hit you guys. nice try though.;)
and Dsup, most of us really wanted to EOR war you guys even though everybody in the gal was too scared to do so. but a number of us had RL stuff come up after our war with 48 and it wasn't till 2 days ago that we regrouped. that's why our pcount stayed exactly the same for over 1.5 RL weeks.:/
lulz rest of the fams forgot to log on and jump
we forgot to jump with our remaining 240 mil iron.:P
Not gonna lie, Noir, I didn't know Lee well before this round. I don't play as consistently as most people, with my one or two rounds per year. So forgive me for being surprised/pissed at Lee for deleting.
We almost knocked 54 out of first for size! So close!
