Yell,

You can say it's big government, but it's still not communism.

While you say the difference between jail and death is staggering... I say they both are using their power to make me dance.

Re: Obama is always learning

Obama should move the capital to Chicago or Detroit.
More power for him, less for the bureaucrats

The inmates are running the asylum

Re: Obama is always learning

"What's happening in Detroit can happen everywhere else" - Barack Obama

"Yell,
You can say it's big government, but it's still not communism."

And 4th Internationalists say what happened in China, Russia and Cuba wasn't communism either.

Yell,

Okay, I'm done trying to convince you that Obama isn't a communist. You apparently are so convinced he is, you won't even settle with calling him a Fascist.

if a predatory raptor was eating your chickens would you let it gorge until you got a positive ID from the Audobon Society or would you blast it?

Re: Obama is always learning

I think any sensible person would not think Obama may be a communist. On those precise words everyone should be able to agree.

Re: Obama is always learning

Justinian I,

Unless he's stated where he draws the line between where he moves the nation at every opportunity and where his desired collectivism ends, you're just wasting our time with meaningless equivocation.

Unless you can tell us how his views differ from communism, you're just spamming. That he wasn't able to get single payer passed doesn't make him not a communist. That he knows better than to propose state ownership and control of anything (which he couldn't get at this time) doesn't make him not a communist. He's certainly pushed for as much state ownership and control as he could hope to achieve.

I've pointed out that he pushes absolutely everything in the direction of communism/socialism/statism. Banks. Healthcare. Local pensions. Various industries, from automotive to crony "green" companies. Everything he does moves in the direction that a communist/socialist/statist/fascist would want.

Sure, this doesn't _prove_ that he must absolutely be a communist beyond a shadow of a doubt, but it raises questions. And if you can't tell us how his ideologies differ from communism/socialism/statism, you're not exactly putting such questions to rest. Equivocating over communism necessarily requiring literal ownership misses the point. Literal ownership means little in the face of actual control and power.

Everything you call free market failures are just your ignorance of the damage caused by the Federal Reserve and corrupt Progressive policies for the better part of the past century. "Liberal-Progressivism" is fundamentally against all 5 suggestions you posted.

I'm not suggesting we necessarily know 100% that Obama subscribes to the ideology of communism. But nobody here has offered any evidence to refute the suggestion. Pointing out that we don't have mind probes to read his thoughts isn't exactly the same thing as refuting _any_ of the evidence and self-admissions that he has statist/socialist/communist/fascist ideology. And anyone with common sense comes pretty close to 100%.

Re: Obama is always learning

GM offered to buy a portion of the Government owned stocks.

They also in the same offer proposed an auction for the remaining Government owned stocks.

Obama said no.

Re: Obama is always learning

True... bank bailouts and bailouts of failed companies was against the grain of America's capitalist private-enterprise model. Nonetheless it happened and now the Government (which doesn't try to run GM) - like any other shareholder - is entitled to maximise its return; whether through dividends or selling at the best possible share price. Every $ the government makes less than it hopes is another dollar cost to the taxpayer, every dollar the government makes more than it hopes is a dollar's benefit to the taxpayer.

If GM is anxious to buy, it means the share price is favourable for the company to buy back. Which means GM must think share prices are still below market value.

>Nonetheless it happened and now the Government (which doesn't try to run GM<

Not true.  Where Paulson (Bush's Secy of Treasury) and Geithner (Obama's Secy of Treasury) took equity they issue orders.

This came out in a lawsuit brought against Bank of America by its shareholders.  Bank of America bought out Merrill Lynch when that investment house went belly up.  Thing is, they paid something like $19 a share when Merrill Lynch was selling on Wall Street for $9 a share.  The BofA shareholders demanded answers and got none, so they sued for breach of fiduciary duty, aka don't buy shit companies for 2x what they're worth.

BofA's board testified that they had no choice.  They swore that Bush's Secretary Paulsen had come to them and ordered them to buy Merrill Lynch and the price they had to pay.  They swore that Paulsen said if they didn't choose to comply with his directive, he would have the Federal Reserve order them to do it.  They swore Paulsen told them if they still held out that any Federal assistance to Bank of America would be dependent on their resignation.  Either they obeyed or the Fed would bring down Bank of America.

That was their story and they produced a letter Paulsen wrote them to prove it.

Paulsen was hauled in front of Congress to explain himself and he basically gave the Jack Nicholson speech from A Few Good Men, about hell yeah he did it and you can't handle that truth

Geithner was Paulsen's NY boy at Treasury during the Bush years, Obama promoted him to provide continuity through the fiscal meltdown
