Re: Memory Lane: MW 19 with chomp, WiLd, and darrk (Futurama)
I'm in the mood to write about IC, and an obvious topic for me is a period in this game where not only did I have one of my best rounds, but also one of the most rewarding experiences I've had online at all.
The details are shaky, but according to my chat logs this all began around July 2005. That's 7 years ago, sheesh! Anyway, I don't recall how my relationship with darrk started but at some point he got in contact with me about a family he was putting together:

Now, I'm not one to stroke my own ego but I felt flattered that anybody would seek me out. During my time playing I built up a reputation as a skilled diplomat and leader, but not necessarily a good "player" so I never expected people to want me in their fams. Still, I suppose I also had a reputation as a persistent attacker so maybe that got around to him. In any case, while flattering, darrrk's offer wasn't necessarily ideal for me because I'd been trying to get into slifty's fam, HAOD. At this point slifty had been asking me for a few years to join his family but I wasn't interested in playing IC again so I had been turning him down. Of course, when I actually want to rejoin the game his family is out of draft spots. 
So darrk's offer was effectively "second choice" although in hindsight it was probably one of the best things that could have happened for me. I've had "epic" rounds before that were my favorite in terms of leadership and attacking, but I don't think I've ever had a round that was simply as fun as this round. And I have to hand it to darrk, he seemed to have this in mind going in:

He really should have said that last part first. I'm a HUGE futurama fan, and playing as Fry is awesome. What futurama fan wouldn't want to be Fry? He's the show's star! This round was looking to be pretty awesome already.
So the family was starting to come together. We actually almost didn't get Wild (who went as WiLdboY at the time). Chomp insisted they come as a team but it almost didn't work out:

Chomp stuck to his guns though and we also got WiLd in the fam, and it's a good thing we did.
Things were looking pretty awesome. These guys were hilarious. I remember reading the fam forum for the first time and laughing because some of the players were talking to eachother as if they were overtly gay lovers. Lots of "love you", "I can't wait for later 
", and "GOD your butt is SO hot." and that kind of thing. At one point some poor randomer posted in the family forum complaining about all the manly love going on. We began telling him how cute he was, and he ended up deleting from the fam. He just couldn't handle it. When I saw the delete I laughed so hard.

(As a side note, the guy named Matt mentioned here later joined the same round as Yancy Fry from Futurama and landed in the bottom ranked family. I would, to much controversy within the fam, go on to delete from the Futurama fam mid-round while they were ranked #2 so I could be in the sam fam as Yancy. More on that later.)
The pre-round vibe was great. Ved was there, who I'd never encountered before. He really wanted to be Dr. Zoidberg so I knew I liked him already. Obviously Chomp and Wild were crackups, as was Daydreamer. Spooky3do was in there too, and while a bit more on the quiet side I had encountered him before and knew he was a cool dude. I didn't know a lot of these guys going in but I felt like we were all buds from the start.
