Totally wrong.

If I find a monkey, it is proof of the existence of monkeys.  If you wish to extrapolate the observed occurence to times and places unobserved, then you have to worry about "representative data" to make a GUESS meaningful.
ALL observations, however, are fact.

So if I see a monkey at my work, and a monkey at my school, then that is fact, it is evidence of the occurence of monkeys.  If I wish to claim there must have been monkeys on stage during the Gettysburg Address, unobserved, I need something more than anecdote.

Yes, a male political researcher has collected data by approaching 100 women he considers attractive at a voting station. But because the researcher committed a statistical bias, his data is useless for drawing conclusions.

In the case of gun control, Flint is merely mining for examples that support his view. These examples are not necessarily typical. It could be that while civilian use of guns have occasionally saved lives, an unnecessary death results in the majority of such cases. I'm not saying it is true, but Flint is wasting everyone's time by producing thread after thread of such examples.

Well, yeah. But I don't think many Democrats are making the argument that it never helps.
