This idea is to provide a response to possible (ab)use of Sentinel tag to attack a smaller fam inside their core, and allow small fams to clear big fams from their core without canceling NW protection.  The Guardian tag would provide a 50% attack bonus (100% attack bonus against Sentinels).  A player with Guardian tag is only permitted to attack targets within say 10 ticks? of fam's home system.  Again, attacks committed by Guardians would not cancel fam NW protection.  This would allow small fams the ability to clear big players, only fair since big fams have to clear small players with Sentinels.

The sentinel tag is the best addition to the game I've seen since I been back! Seeing a new random explore Allover your core and There be nothing u could do about it but wait and watch them jump and rape you was horrible!

Should make it so u don't have to declare war though wink

Sentinel tag makes game imbalanced.  While big fams get yet another advantage, but small fams get screwed.  Coring was their only viable strategy.  Since fam protection measures, small fams can't clear players from big fams without breaking their protection.  So now a big fam cores a small one, and the small fam doesn't dare attack them.  Then, the big fam uses Sentinel to attack the small fam inside their core?

There needs to be a counter-force to this obvious advantage to bigger fams.  The Guardian tag is necessary to restore balance to the game.

simply make it so a sentinal can only attack in a system where your family controls 70% of the planets, it wouldnt completley stop abuse, but its a good start.

That would work, I supposed, because the code is already written as such for teh DSs.
