Re: Hired guns - Units Market
make a parallel market for mercenaries, what's in this market?
DISBANDED UNITS
25% of the disbanded units in all the universe, they are sent to the market authomatically at the standard price (standard price in this market is double the original gc+iron standard price) and the empire that disbanded the units gets instantly 25% of the amount.
Example --> you disband 1000 soldiers, 250 of those go directly to the market for sale at 200 gc each, you get 25% of 250*200, so 25% of 50000 = 12500 gc you get instantly (fast sale)
DELETED EMPIRES
100% of the units in deleted/killed empires go directly to the market, for sale at standard prices (double the original) except the exploration ships that are sold at 5x its original price
Example --> you kill an inactive in your family and you instantly can buy his units at the market:
10 soldiers at 200 each
10 fighters at 430 each
10 agents at 300 each
10 wizzards at 300 each
2 exploration ships at 50000 each (iron does not count for explos)
STOLEN/KILLED AGENTS/WIZARDS (by GEs)
1% of the total agents stolen by the Tokaasi Empire all over the galaxy go to the market at standard price every tic
1% of the diseased wizards cast a resurrection spell and go to the market at standard price every tic
Example --> in week 32, year 12, the Tokaasi have stolen 540671 agents all over the galaxy, so in week 33 you'll be able to buy 5407 agents in the market at 300 gc each
MERCENARIES
You can choose to put your unwanted fleet for sale instead of disbanding it, despite this income wont be probably instant, because you set the price and you compete with other sellers like in any market.
There are some rules about this option:
1) units in market cannot be recalled (its permanent) unless you buy them at the price you have set or you can find cheaper units (in case you committed a mistake and sold em all and suddenly you are being attacked).
2) sale price can never be bellow the standards, neither can it be above 10x the original price
3) no decimals allowed (pls devs this would help a lot)
4) any unit you put for sale at the market has a an expiration date (1 IC year), beyond the expiration date, the units that havent been sold are treated like disbanded (they stay in market at the standard price, and you get only 25% of the standard amount and you have no further rights over them)
Example --> in week 32, year 12, you decide to sell 100k droids at 200gc each, and 25k figs at 400gc each
The droids are acepted, but you get a msg from the market advisor not allowing to sell figs for less than 430gc each (standard price), so you decide to raise the price at 500gc each, which is acepted.
In week 40, year 12, somebody has bought 80k of your droids and you receive 16m cash in the operation
However, the other units arent sold, so in week 32, year 13, they are treated like disbanded units, 20k droids and 25k figs disbanded, they are still at sale in the market, but now at a standard price, and you receive 550000gc for the droids and 2687500gc for the fighters.
BIDDING RULES
Bids for standard prices arent allowed, you'll have to check for any new unit at tic and buy it faster than others.
You can set a bid demanding a low price and wait for someone to sell units at that price, but if your bid isnt attended after 1 IC year you will lose 70% of the money stocked. Notice the bids arent withdrawnable, so this market is not good for saving cash, either you manage to buy the units at the price you demanded or either you lose 70% of the cash you stocked.
Example --> in week 32, year 12, you want to buy 5000 droids at 140gc each, so you store 700k gc in the market waiting for someone who sells the units.
3 tics after a foreign empire has decided to sell 2000 droids at 140gc each, so he's payed 280k from those 700k stored.
After 1 IC year, in week 32, year 13, your demand hasnt been acepted and its expired. From the leftovers 420k stored you lose 294k (70%) and recover just 126k.
You will realise the final price for just 2000 droids you managed to buy was 700k-126k=574k so each droid costed 287gc (more than double your bid). This is very important to realise and not risk unless you have a seller arranged by chat or one of your family empires.
STANDARD PRICES for the UNITS MARKET
Bomber = 860gc
Fighter = 430gc
Soldier = 200gc
Droid = 110gc
Agent = 300gc
Wizard = 300gc
Transport = 1660gc
E-ship = 50000gc
(I used the prices in the guide, they may be out of date, idk, but certainly the droids should be more expensive)
Now just figure the new roles and new options to the game with this market, where a banker cannot build droids but he can buy them, where a researcher can produce cheap units and sell them as a way of living, a pax can get a wizzie jump in 1 tic and spend 0 octa in doing it, and allied family can help with real units without even having a portal in the war zone, etc..
A lot of IAs can happen too, but then again a good diplomacy is the key.
And of course, the units have to be produced by somebody, remember this market starts at zero.
