Now really, what the hell?
Should I complain because they don't celebrate Belgian holidays? No. It's an international company, which modifies its logos for fun when they feel like it, to whatever they feel like.

Just an exerpt from the article here:
""Google consistently ignores patriotic American holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day," WorldNetDaily's editors wrote last October, "but today it acknowledged an accomplishment of the communist Soviet Union, which launched the Sputnik satellite fifty years ago.""

So it's wrong to celebrate a great technological advancement? It's a technical company after all, it's only natural they give precedence to those. And changing their logo every day is a bit much too I'd say.

hmmm....I  dont think that is fiar.  Considering...ok....they didnt do Memorial Day.   But, Veteran's Day is in NOV.   and they did it in 2007 for Vet's Day.
Also, they did July 4th in 2007, and it hasnt reached July yet.



I like WorldNetDaily, but I think they are wrong here.

As far as Celebrating Sputnik......  Sure, a great tech breakthrough, that lead to the space race, and many breakthroughs.

Yeah but Memorial Day sticks in our craw.

We came up with Memorial Day first in 1866 to commemorate our civil war dead

Google randomly does holidays as it sees fit. And if they do memorial day people would cry out 'why not our holidays?'

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...
