We have a few changes to the way tag points and forum tags work that we hope will stimulate forum and player activity.

Firstly, tag points can now be handed out on a per-post basis.  This means that useful posts can be individually rewarded, be them answers in the questions forum, reports in the bug forum, interesting ideas in the ideas forum, or any deserving post in any forum really!  There is a new section that will appear at the bottom right of affected posts that will show this.  Check the bottom right of this post as an example.

To this end, individual posts can also be punished by having tag points taken away.  We have some ideas in the works to make use of this as an aid to forum moderation.

Speaking of negative tag points, the former "negative" tags have been redesigned to work alongside the "positive" tags.  They both now exist as positive "good" vs "evil" tags.  The previous system of faux-negative tags was rather confusing.  Getting a negative tag point is now a bad thing, as it should be.

Putting your points toward an "evil" tag is now up to each player, and can be done by visiting the "Profile" link in the top of the forums and then going to "Personality".

Finally, that brings us to the forum tags themselves.  Our previous forum tags have been merged with the tags from the original IC forums to create a new, much larger list.  The point requirements have also been changed.  Notice the 5 "evil" tags are alternatives to the "legend" tags:

It's worth noting that the point requirements are significantly higher.  This is designed in a way that we hope will encourage mods and forum mods to hand out tag points more frequently than before.
