Obama returned it most unceremoniously.


This continues what was seen as gaffes... but now show to be deliberate provocations against the Brits since he has gotten into office.


He gave the queen an Ipod with his favorite songs and his speeches and other stuff. Yes an Ipod.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

But he's SO good on foreign policy! He treats people right! Like his insulting gifts to the British! Like his patronizing words to many countries in that video! Like his meaningless (except to embarrass himself/us) "reset" on Russian relations!

After the next financial crisis (will take place in this decade) Britain will be ruined. Even now Britain struggles to keep the financial sector in London while hoping to contain the budget dept in a few years. The riots showed the deep fissures in the british society. Only in London money is earned while the countryside suffers and the regions struggle for independence from London (e. g. Scotland).

Should the US really link with such nation in decline just for an old fashiond "special relationship"? I don't think so. In the 21. century the cards are newly dealt. Lets say the Euro zone manages to recover. In this case the Euro zone would be like a new nation with a common economic and financial policy, perhaps even a common foreign policy. The British fear such a strong power on the continent and try to stop it. So, better relations with key members of the coming Euro-confederation now may benefit in the future. If the Euro zone fails, Britain will fail too. It is tightly linked with continental europe.

So, with a turn to key members of the Euro zone it can only come to a win-win situation for the US. On the one hand the US gains better relations with a new economic power or on the other hand won't waste money for better relations for a doomed nation.
