I liked DS9 but you need to have seen TOS and TNG to enjoy some of the episodes

Voyager was about a group of starfleet people, bajoran guerrilla refugees, and a hologram, thrown across the universe trying to get back.  Along the way they learn about each other and themselves.

Enterprise was a re-telling of the origins of Starfleet. It happens in a parallel dimension though, so none of it matters and a lot contradicts other Trek.

The captain once compared Earth's effort to become a spacefaring culture, to a baby gazelle being born. The Vulcans bought it.

They stole the theme song from "Patch Adams".

Oh yeah, the Vulcan has really big boobs.

I remember how my love affair with Star Trek began. I was 5 years old, and my parents took me to the theatrical premiere of Wrath of Khan. The rest was history.

No, my parents are fossils. My mother can recall seeing The Beatles at the infamous Shea stadium concert in '64. Both are veterans of Woodstock '69, though they didn't meet for several more years. Their hippie past make for interesting family gatherings in contrast to my wife's conservative, well-to-do parents. You should have seen their faces when my father boasted of his draft-dodging antics at the wedding rehearsal dinner.

Sort of. My parents and I haven't always seen eye to eye on ideological matters. I've always felt like a black sheep because of this, but upon reflection my rebellious attitude was emulative of their own adolescence. I just went the opposite direction over time.
