Re: The Einstein Energy Plan

The US uses 64 billion gallons of gasoline a year.

My proposal will make both Environmentalists and Skeptics pleased in my opinion.

The United States has, after a series of re-evaluations by the United States Geological Service, a technically recoverable amount of oil near the 2 trillion barrel mark.

This number is expected to rise with the completion of the reviews and due to future advances in technology.

The rest of the world is calculated to be near 1 trillion barrels as well, for a grand total of 3 trillion barrels.

In simpler terms: Peak oil is more than two hundred years away.

My plan is simple and helps the poor in the United Stats, removes some of the burdens placed on industry by Environmentalists, and while unfortunate, also establishes a permament way to fund environmentalist projects

Simply put 64 billion gallons at $4 a gallon equates to $256 billion dollars. My proposal is that for every four cents under four dollars a barrel an additional penny in cost is added and the funds go to match private investment in green science and development.

For example if the real cost of gasoline was reduced to $2 a gallon $0.50 would be added to the cost and would fund Green Projects. In this example that would mean 32 billion USD for Green Projects.

I add two provisions to this

1) A Certain amount must be set aside, the Percentage set by congress, for science, the rest is to match private investment at a dollar for dollar (or if there is more private investment than fund dollars an amount equal to the percentage for a given project by investors) with any remainder going to pay off the US Debt.

2) The fund will require a specific set of projects to be the only ones able to qualiify but an example list can include: Biomass Energy, Clean Coal, Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Algae, BioFuel, and Tidal Power.

Additionally I expect that a protected well design be insituted where of a oil drilling company follows it they cannot be sued and so long as they intend to drill in 3 months they cannot be denied a Federal Land Permit to drill at the desired locaion. Horiozontal drilling means there is much less issue with a drilling station being everywhere so all claims can be required to be a certain (not excessive) distance from each other to preserve the environment.

By requiring matching we prevent the horrific spending done by Obama for donors with companies on the brink of failure who failed anyways.

My plan would reduce prices at the pump, increase green spending, decrease dependency on hostile foriegn nations, and be a true middle ground.

Evidence for my figures is located in a post about oil currently still on page one.

Re: The Einstein Energy Plan

How would adding a tax reduce prices at the pump? How would adding a tax reduce dependence on foreign sources of oil?

You do realize that the United States Geological Service didn't survey the entire globe, right? I'm pretty sure Iran and China laughed at them when they showed up with their equipment. That is to ask, you do realize it's obvious to everyone that you're lying when you claim that the USA has 66% of the world's oil? Thanks for the laugh.

Re: The Einstein Energy Plan

1) the Tax is less than gains. Aka real cost drops to $3 the tax is $0.25.

The price drops to $2 the tax is $0.50

Price drops to $1 the tax is $0.75

Aka in proper order after tax: $3.25, $2.50, and $1.75. Remember baseline is $4 a gallon.

2) This would include a set of provisions which would make drilling for oil here far easier.

Your last point: I think we used the ground penetrating radar (against their will) and mapped out likely amounts based on experience with our own fields and friendly fields. That would be a more advanced version that the one that mapped the Nile River's underground tributaries.

I didn't know they had ground penetrating radar that can locate oil from space. You learn something new every day. He reads more science periodicals than me. I defer to his expertise.

MARSIS can transmit microwaves with 4 wavelengths 170 , 100 , 80 and 60 m. Given rocks and soils free of liquid water, which comprise most of Mars

And this can be achieved from orbit!

But wait you said 5km.

Having trouble with distances?

Re: The Einstein Energy Plan

Yes from orbit with a penetration of up to 5km

Re: The Einstein Energy Plan

Okay, that's pretty bad ass. But it's not deep enough to account for much of what is counted in the USA. So there's an inconsistency. And was such radar actually used in that survey? lol And how consistent is it, alone, in determining quantities of oil?

We have plenty of oil. I'm not disputing that. But your claim that we have 66% of the world's oil is just silly. tongue
