In late 2000, early 2001, the Taliban set out to destroy a Wonder of the World.

This wonder was a cliff carved into the likeness of Buddha.

They also destroyed all artifacts they could of the Buddhist religion.



Right now the Islamists who took power in Egypt are talking about destroying the last of the Ancient Wonders of the World... the Pyramids.

If they set out to do this they will also destroy much of the items of historical significance found in the Pyramids and of ancient Egyption religions.

This of course flies in the face of their economy, as Egypt has been only sustained by Tourism and their Canal. The Canal cannot keep them afloat and no tourism means no jobs.

However these Islamists do not care about that, they see these historical items as blasphemous and seek to destroy them. The petition was delivered to the new President who is said to look favorably upon the idea.


So what will they not destroy?

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

How about they wrap them in orange tape like that wassisface does, then it's Art.  That's it, hang BIG orange curtains in front and then write the Koran on the curtains.  Hide them like the Kaaba.  Then announce their missing.

Okay, so I overgeneralized a bit. Yes they invented some things, but most of their intellectual achievements involved preserving ancient knowledge and adapting it to suit Islam. Of course, the majority of their great intellectuals came from ancient civilizations they had conquered, such as Persia and Egypt.

I did not make a generalization such as "they are all the same". I just made note that there was not a single "religion" in the history of time of this little planet that hasn't been destructive in one way or another. Are some better than others? I believe that's an overwhelming yes, but does that make it perfect? By all means no.

Catholics condoned and/or ignored all kinds of horrific acts hundreds and thousands of years ago. Muslims condone and/or ignore horrible acts today.

Furthermore, the Koran itself isn't exactly centered around loving one's fellow man and forgiving one another. I don't have a problem with Muslims in general, but let's not pretend all major religions pray to the same god.
