Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

My argument against Obama's recent DREAM Executive Fiat.

I, a lowly candidate, will do what our Caucus should be doing, by crushing it verabally.

The idea of under 16 is appalling.
A) An average child knows their home address no later than 12 years old.

B) An Average child of 10 years can identify their own nation they are in.

C) By 10 most children understand Right and Wrong and can identify properly when their parents ask them to lie.

D) By age 2 most children start to understand words spoken by their parents, by age 5 they have a decent volcabulary, by age ten they are proficient. This part negates claims they don't speak their native language unless the parents ONLY spoke in English which is highly unlikely.

E) given that illegal aliens represent a major drain on the Government (much more than they contribute) and that they will likely remain a net deficit for life, deporting them is sound policy.

F) While initially difficulties may occur these 'children' represent useful skills for their home nations and are a net increase to the taxes gained in those nations.

G) with many already having committed ID theft, or profited from their parents doing so, proving they were here for x time can be difficult since... they could be stealing yet another identity to gain the equivalent of permament residency.

H) This incentivizes more to sneak in and use this thus circumventing legal immigration.

I) Especially since most schools wish to educate them in their native language we can presume most won't have issues speaking the language.

J) Also due to the education part their costs are much higher than normal students and increase the student load a school must support.

If the left truly cared then they could sponsor a 'fund' for these 'children' to have for when they return to their home nation they can seek a residence, and have time to search for employment.

Ergo the left cares more about potential votes than this nation, legal immigrants orthese 'childrens' futures.

I would rather quadruple legal immigration than give a blanket amnesty.

I know this will bother some Democrats and such, but I stand by my words.

Or you could just advocate the elimination of immigration laws, and permit free movement in or out of the country. Think of how much the taxpayers could save from dismantling border controls.

Or terrorists... but hey socialism for all!

No and hell no.

There is a reason Europe will have great pains if Greece is removed from the EU. There are reasons for sound border control. There are reasons to prevent a massive influx of people seeking benefits, jobs, and such.

I say no to this socialist ideal! I say no to your liberal attitude! No, no, and HELL NO!

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

And then we can dismantle the minimum wage and tax laws, because that won't be obeyed either.  The bastards who do not want to hire American labor at American wages don't want to calculate employer contributions either.  And with the whole planet to hire from, they wouldn't have to.  Hell, there's bipartisan consensus we can't deport the few dozen million we have NOW.  What will happen when we have twice as many foriegners, here to work the gold stream, with no pretense of loyalty to the American government or obedience to its laws?

Or how about, he's violating his oath of office and breaking the law?

My explanation is briefer!

Acolyte,

I think you'd have to dismantle our socialist welfare state before even considering open borders. Unless, of course, you want to bankrupt the populace and crush their standard of living. tongue

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Acolyte,

No. I want a collusion agreement among citizens to limit rights of aliens to work, reside, engage in commerce, and own property in my country.

I am also for limiting access to citizenship. I propose limiting future citizenship to children born of American women, and only allowing naturalization for individuals of exceptional merit.

Flint,

Also, allowing non-citizens to join the military as a condition for citizenship amounts to degenerating the military in to a mercenary force. Mercenary armies are bad bad news. It will open the door for presidents to turn the military on the people. So I say citizen army only. No compromises.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

I'm pissed that even Romney and Gingrich are acting like the President can issue waivers.

It's unconstitutional, a violation of their oath of office.  It's coalescing arbitrary power to the President.  Combined with the usurped lawmaking power of bureaucrats, its' the creation of Kingship.

Think about it.  The EPA decrees that in 6 months it will ban coal power generators.  If in 6 months, the House, Senate and President don't get together to reverse the regulations --and the EPA represents the Presidents view-- then it happens because bureaucrats wanted to make law.
We're seeing the EPA declare it can regulate ANY waterway in America, and the FCC is INVENTING authority to regulate the internet -- the Supreme Court checked it once already, it's coming back for seconds.
That process means the President gets to make laws unless 2/3 of both House and Senate are willing to vote him down.
And then, he issues waivers to his allies.  THEY can go about business as usual.  Everybody else, gets the shaft.
That's real nice.
Worked for Mussolini and Hitler and Franco.
You may say, 14th Amendment guarantees equal protection.  Well that just gives you the right to sue, if you can last four years.  Of course if you're out of business when it reaches the Supreme Court, the case is moot.

and of course the REAL abuse is when the President starts waiving prosecution of his Administration.  Prosecutorial discretion, gotta have a sense of Proportion.

Einstein: "I say no to this socialist ideal! I say no to your liberal attitude! No, no, and HELL NO!"

How is it socialist to permit the freedom of movement across the Earth, unmolested by government thugs charged with policing arbitrary boundaries?

I would say something here, but it would be far too easy to take out of context and color me a hypocrite.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Say it! Say it! Say it!

I'm not particularly into the idea of open borders, but I'm open to debate on the topic. Insofar as we're always going to have safety-net programs out of compassion and even economic reasons if they're done right, begging for the poorest, least motivated, least skilled to flock to us by the tens of millions isn't exactly in our best interests.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

I was going to say that the country might just need something as violent a readjustment as you said. It may prove beneficial in the long run, like a kind of "reset" button on the economy. Truthfully, we're already bankrupt; the entire American monetary system rides piggyback on the ignorance of public perception, but I digress.

My reason for opposing immigration laws are quite simple. In my view, all rights are property rights. Theft is an obvious violation of a person's property, as is trespassing. As John Locke states in my signature, "[E]very man has a property in his own person"; thus, every form of assault, battery, and murder also constitute violations of a person's property. Every (legitimate) crime you can conceive of will, invariably, lead us back to the issue of property rights. The right to own property is the right to own property /anywhere/, not within a specific geographical region. Thus, it is immoral for the state to license movement across arbitrary boundaries, and impose second hand restrictions on rights of ownership.

I don't believe that removing border controls would have as devastating an impact as you and others have suggested, however. I truly don't believe -- as far as the federal government is concerned -- that welfare spending would be horribly distorted by immigration. Has anyone ever actually run the numbers on how much illegal immigration costs the taxpayers -- in terms of welfare dollars offset by tax revenue -- now? I'm willing to put a significant wager that even the most comprehensive estimate would be hard pressed to find a number greater than 1% of the federal spendthrift for this fiscal year, or any previous one for that matter.

Of course, the entire tax/welfare-burden argument is moot if you were to simply abolish those, as well. wink

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Consider briefly

Native Born Americans have property rights on the nation of the United States.

Reconsider your belief with that.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

If you abolish all immigration law, you open the floodgates to the poor and the criminals of all nations. Being poor in a rich nation has to be better than being poor in a poor nation, right?

It's much easier to move and take handouts than build nations and industry. Hell, you have to fight for rights to do that! It's hard work.

Because illegals are undocumented, it's hard to quantify their direct and indirect costs nationally.

I think that we, as a 'national' regional organization of people, should agree that mostly only citizens and otherwise legal residents--which we may regulate--should have property privileges in the national zone which we collectively own! Immigration laws as property rights! BAM! How do you like that? tongue

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

@Einstein

I'm not sure what you're speaking of precisely. Are you referring to aboriginal natives, or simply native born? Either way, what is your point? Public property is a horrendous myth, try and petition any level of government for them to issue your "fair share" of the "public good" and see how far that gets you. What good is collective ownership if you can't take it or leave it? Even if we assume, for the sake of argument, that public property is a tangible notion, the title was forced upon us. Perhaps we don't /want/ to buy a share in the United States government, yet here we are with no real choice in the matter.

@V.Kemp

Any arguments about the burden placed on the state treasury is rather moot if that treasury didn't exist. In any case, I'm not convinced that the financial strain on public spending is that immense, though I've never sought the figures. Conceptually it would appear to make sense, but theory and reality can be two entirely separate beasts.

As for your "regional organization" idea, that's all well and fine (so long as such an institution maintains voluntary membership). I don't think it would be possible to immigrate somewhere, in the first place, if you did not secure a property in your new homestead. Otherwise, you might be guilty of trespassing. wink

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Open borders is an interesting notion. Even within a closed border system that has free movement of labour etc, migration is fairly limited (think migration within US or EU). We can deduce that migration is not solely driven by economics. Where the economic incentive is reduced (free house, social security) there's no way to know if immigration would cause a problem.  Plus since most migrants are driven by economics (non-migrants driven by non economic reasons), we can reasonably assume most migrants will desire to work to live above the minimum.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Open borders facilitate human trafficking.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

For a while Michigan was a boomtown when they enacted their social benefits. People moved in from everywhere.

Then as jobs moved out people moved out.

It would be the same with ANY State/Nation offering super benefits.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Human trafficking? Really? Explain. If a border is open no need to pay someone to help you cross. No need to have a passport and ID confiscated. No need to owe anyone money.

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

i think open borders will have a negative effect on our economy, these imigrants will have no personal wealth or education, they will take all the jobs from current americans!! we need those construction workers and truck drivers job what would einstien do then?

Re: My objections to Obama's DREAM executive order.

Our poor are more than happy with our levels of welfare.

We pay for food. We pay for cell phones. We pay for housing. We give extra cash for recreation. Most handout recipients have cell phones, air conditioning, and cable TV. They'd rather just collect welfare than work. For this reason, illegal immigrants take far fewer jobs than they would if more of our poor actually wanted to work.
