Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

Liberals, Pacifists, Libertarians, Code Pink, and more think the United States should pull back into its territory all forces and only react to attacks made against us (though some will allow us to retal for allies).

They are wrong.

War is hell, and I was trained to be the butcher.

I am all to well knowledgable about the costs of war and the losses of life. I don't advocate capturing and keeping land (such as China does) nor do I advocate using it to effect geopolitical results (as Russia has).

While my trolling on nukes on Mecca and such may color your views about my stance I cannot advocate nukes for anything short of a true WMD attack or to stop a massive Genocide/Democide.

I value life as a Christian, all life is important. But there are several clauses to this. I will protect anothers life by taking yours. I will kill soldiers with soldiers in the name of freedom. I will kill to stop tyranny of the worst sorts.

A bully only understands one thing, and one thing only. He understands power. Not strength, for he may be stronger than a teacher. Not intelligence, being smart does not satisfy him. He craves, he understands, he desires one thing: Power.

I will not recount how I successfully stopped the bullies of my school life, nor how I succumbed to the bullying of my wife.

I will focus on war and how it can and has stopped bullys.

First the simplest rule. Always trust a bully when he says his intentions. He means it that he will do that if he can get away with it. He may not do it right away but he will build up to it!

Don't underestimate an evil person either. There are studies aplenty showing people get highs off certain things. There are those who get highs by doing evil things.

The problem is a small assassination here, sinking a ship there... these things eventually do not satisfy. The fix has got to get bigger.

Now time for case studies:

Pre-WWI France invaded Germany's Western edge for a violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Hitlers generals had kittens and Hitler himself backed down.

Manuel Noriega was a tyrant who was setting himself up for life. The United States forcibly removed him then restored Democracy to the Nation of Panama.

Japan had two courses it could take. Peace or war. The surprise attack showed they valued war and conquering above peace. The United States merely stopped selling oil drilled in the United States to Japan.

Napolean tried to conquer the World. Twice he tried and twice he failed.

Momar khadafi tried doing evil stuff then the United States, under Reagan, bombed his home and nearly killed him (This gave him an irrational fear of sleeping in a building btw). He started down the path to trying to export evil again when he saw another American President blowing away a much stronger nation. He gave up his nuclear weapon program and a vast intel coup about how he, N. Korea, Iran, and Syria had gotten info on how to build the bomb from Pakistan.

Alexander the Great, Persius, Hannibal, Nero, Pol Pot, Mugabe... history is replete with tyrants who took on either their own people or the people of the world.

Some world leaders thought they were God's or were chosen by God.

What ended their fantasies? For some war, for some disease, some assassination and others unfortunately went in a deathbed from natural causes.

History shows only when a nation much superior in strength exists and threatens these people do they stop doing what they do. They do not honor treaties, they do not honor conventions, implied threats with no backbone mean nothing to them. What they respect is POWER.

Israel has represented power. When they seized the Golan Heights and the Sanai Penisula they showed power. Instantly the Arabian nations either made peace or resorted to funding a proxy guerilla war.

India represents power. They hold off two hostile powers of great size at once. China would invade again if they thought they could and Pakistan would take the whole of India and stop the slaughter somewhere near a few hundred million.

Evil respects only Power and power only exists with BOTH the means and the will to use it.

Peace means being ready for war at all times. Peace means sometimes kicking an evil man in the nads while he is a two bit loser before he starts killing, raping, and plundering.

For that matter I WANT the United States to act the police man, I want us to kill a few of the worst evil dictators every so often. I want us to invade, destroy the military and Government of any nation that talks about war, terrorism, or even talk smack about our nation.

I don't advocate rebuilding them, I advocate smashing their government and military as many times as is needed to send the message.

This way we are never going to be smacked at by a growing evil power. No Germany will threaten our England, no Persius will threaten our Greece City States.

History shows only Power is respected, that evil will grow in the absence of Power and when evil grows far more is lost than in the act of sustaining a good nation with power against evil.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

I don't think we should pull back to our borders. That is a stupid idea that would disrupt the global balance of power at the expense of the entire western world. Although, it would be funny watching Europe militarize. But we shouldn't go to war to spread democracy or end genocide. We should only consider military or financial intervention when it is in our national interest to do so. Defeating a rising imperialist power and assassinating democratically elected communist leaders are examples of when it's okay to intervene.

Edit: The Greek historian Thucydides said it best, "The strong do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must." The leaders of all states only care about political survival and increasing their power. The US is no exception. The US acts exactly as a political realist would act with the power it has.

Napoleon didn't try to conquer the world. The nobility of Europe was out to get him, and Napoleon was defending France from the constant invasions mounted against him. Whenever a peace settlement was concluded, a new coalition formed while he was resting in Paris. He was more concerned with creating allied buffer states like the Confederation of the Rhine than he was in conquest. Likewise, he didn't conquer Austria, rather he married an Archduchess and required Austria to limit the size of its army. Despite Napoleon's unpopularity with the nobility of Europe, it was because Britain would not relent that the Napoleonic wars continued for as long as they did. Granted, Napoleon had an ego, and he went overkill when he invaded Russia. He should have launched a smaller punitive expedition, and waited until his shipyards finished building his new fleet. With the size of his Empire, he was outproducing Britain, and would have eventually overwhelmed the British Empire

Alexander The Great wasn't a tyrant, lol. He was rather benign as far as a ruler.

Hannibal wasn't a bloodthirsty lunatic out to conquer either. He refused to accept the conditions Rome imposed on Carthage, and he was too gentle after the battle of Cannae. Rather than march on Rome and finish it, he thought the Romans would finally relent and agree to a more sensible settlement. Instead, he wasted his one opportunity to finish Rome in the hope they would agree to peace.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

Yes, Tyranny is bad but where doesn't it exist?  You can't buy sodas of a certain size in New York and they are also looking into banning jumbo sized popcorn.  There is also nutrician police that make sure kids have the right stuff in there lunch or they will take it away and give then a "state issued proper" lunch.  Tell me, in your list of tyrants is there any that would tell you whether or not you could see a doctor, is there any that would not only steal the money of its citizens but also pilfer the income of generations to come.

When will China read your post and come save us from tyranny hmm

He's going to help them, whether they like it or not!

He's going to save people from their barbarian leaders, even if the people themselves are barbarians who would do the same thing in their stead!

I'm all for France helping us in our revolution, but it'd be a bit different if the Ottomans invaded us and told us how it was going to be while we attacked them regularly.

Yeah keep trolling Kemp.

Just keep killing new leaders until the only ones willing to lead say 'America deserves respect, no more death to Amercia, let them be and let us change our ways'

Trust me, 6-7 leaders wiped out who chant Death to America and suddenly no one will chant it.

Worked great in Vietnam and Iran. How's it going in Afghanistan?

Keep calling arguments trolling like a baby. It'll get you respect.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

Let's review Iran actually

In their war with Iraq they mined the passage.

A US cruiser was damaged while it escorted fuel tankers.

The retaliation eliminated defenses on two oil derricks, sunk one cruiser, significantly damaged another and made Iran cry. Oh and shot some fighters down to boot. They tried and failed to hurt us in return.

They made some noise but they quick time removed the mines and we had no Death to America chants for a number of years.

So yes it worked with Iran.

Vietnam failed because we were unwilling to send ground troops North. We killed their 1 million man formal army and could have grabbed all their planets (IC terms) with a tranny and two soldiers.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

I was referring to our failed meddling with their leadership in the revolution which, if it didn't have a role in the current hatred of the West of many, certainly gave them a legitimate excuse.

We're talking about the US dicking around with the leadership of other nations. Just as I referenced, you again have given a partial and distorted historical account. As if a limited military scuffle was what I was referring to, not our attempt to determine their leadership. Are you serious? Give me a break. THAT's trolling, if it's not completely stupid and ignorant.

Regardless of the reasons we failed in Vietnam, I'm simply pointing out that we failed. Similar failings continue to this day in Afghanistan. Why we failed is irrelevant--especially when we continue those failures. My point is that we kill tens of thousands of our young men without anything to justify their sacrifice.

[I wish I could obey forum rules]

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

Actually their deaths are justified.

One trailers worth of explosives, one hundred thousand dollars, one large machine gun and ten dedicated men.

I could end the economy of the United States, create fear, kill a fair number, and all the hocus pokus of our Government saying we are safe and secure. I would do so much damage and not get caught like the amateurs.

We need to kill them there, we need to fixate them there, we need to make them expend their funds, prevent training and planning, and stop their ability to have a nation to use as a tax base.

And if you think those supplies are impossible to smuggle then look at what they busted once from a Mexican Cartel (hundreds of guns in Arizona, explosives, ammunition, stolen vehicles and more).

The sad thing is it is so damned easy to do. Way to easy.

1941: We can't use gas, Mr. President, because the Axis will just retaliate and the end result will be zero advantage to either side and triple casualties.

1961: We can't  use gas, Mr. President, because the Commies would just retaliate and end result will be zero advantage to either side and triple casualties.  Also NATO would probably bail on us rather than suffer Russian gas bombs because we used them in Nam.

1991:  We can't use gas, Mr. President, because the UN will bail on us and we need an ace-in-the-hole to stop Saddam from using his.

2001: We can't use gas, Mr. President, because that would be MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAANNNNN....

Einstein,

I love how you said their deaths were necessary and worth the sacrifice, then ranted vaguely about nothing to do with the countries I named. Our actions in those nations did nothing to prevent what you speak of.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

My point was that Afghanistan was poorly managed by politicians, putting in jeopardy what brave men fought and died for. The same is true, probably far more so, with Vietnam.

You proved I stated what? My point was that our leadership squanders the lives of our young and frequently mess up in their efforts to meddle in others' affairs. I mentioned that they're doing it in Afghanistan.

I pointed out that none of the terrorist activity you said was so easy was prevented by our actions in Afghanistan. They still have easily many times that amount of money. They still train in Pakistan, Yemen, Indonesia, and likely more countries we don't know about. If we invaded all of those countries, they'd move elsewhere.

Yes, I mentioned Afghanistan. What you said about 100k EZPZ terrorism is not combated by our actions in Afghanistan. It wasn't even obvious that this was the argument you were trying to make.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

Negative.

Their training is limited to squad level tactics, simple terrorism, and they have no finishing schools for top level terrorists.

No true safe haven exists even in Pakistan (we nailed #1, #3, #4, #5 and so forth there.) and without a place of higher learning, of science, of spies, they are without the level of skill I represent for the most part (the printer attack not with standing)

Their military tactics suffer, their terrorism tactics suffer, and their leadership suffers.

Now if they had a guaranteed safe zone they would consolidate there and launch out from there.

The difference:
Origionally with a portion of several nations (Iraq in the North, South Afghanistan, the Tribal regions of Pakistan and portions of Somalia to name a few) the terrorists were able to plan and carry out complex attacks

The barracks bombing in Saudi Arabia, the Embassy Bombings in Africa, the USS Cole, the Twin Towers.

When we engaged them in combat this talent and skill was still represented for a while, as were assets. The London attacks, the Madrid train attack, the Attack on the Aussies, and so forth.

Now what major attacks have they carried out?

The only remaining safe haven is Pakistan and that is only for terrorists planning to strike India. The rest are being hunted and killed.

Their collective engineering, science, chemistry, tactics, strategy, planning, logistics, and other skill sets are greatly diminished.

While they still get fresh recruits with some advanced skills, they have a hard time successfully integrating them fully into a complete plan due to the constant actions against them.

Recently the scariest terrorist almost actions were from the OWS crowd where they were going to bomb Chicago, destroy bridges, and the likes.

The only thing you have left is the market where you steal enough money to survive and nothing more.

Re: Sometimes you just need to kick some ass

I love how you pretend to be an expert on terrorist infrastructure.

What major attacks did they ever carry out? 9/11? I'm not so convinced they did. Is that it? Is that all you've got? We've prevented ourselves from doing another 9/11? What other major attacks did they launch? None. What has a lack of attacks shown? Nothing. They never had that capacity with Afghanistan, and they still don't have it with less of Afghanistan. Shocking.

You're just pretending that some camps with firing ranges and barbed wire to crawl under are inherently crucial to terrorism. Because there's so much barbed wire they have to deal with to carry out attacks in the US! You're just pretending they need camps for anyone to study basic chemistry. Because ammonium nitrate and diesel are so hard to obtain and use!
