this is a sport! all english people will agree with me:p
dude, you dont get a say. that the whole point. you dont play sports in a bar... you watch them on the tv. thats the closest you get to a sport in a bar.
It's a sport
if you play it with friends it's a game, if you do it as your job and participates WK's than it's a sport!
so, just for argument's sake, Phil Helmut doesnt play poker as a game, it's a sport? ![]()
its not registered in the olympics. enough said!
Solitare is a game, poker is a game, Imperial Conflict is *gasp* a game...
Darts is a game whether alone or in a group.
When you can show me a league, a championship, commercials, and an olympics version... then it is a sport.
there are championships!! now the UK championship is currently going
and there are WK's of it:p
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Professional_Darts_Championship
here you go:p but translate it, it's in dutch:p
When the beer ban goes into effect the game will end.
that's another issue, but that's the same for other sports, if you take away food or alcohol, many people won't go anymore, but the sport still exists:p
there are 3 things i trained for over a long period of time : athletics, martial arts and kicker (table-soccer). Though i put in lots of hours of hard training in all 3, i'll be the first to make a distinction. Athletics is sports, martial arts is (whats in a name) an art form (like dancing is too), and kicker is a game. Darts, just like snooker and a couple others, also fall into that last category.
Steroids don't help you do better at it, but you're supposed to enjoy beer while you do it
GAME
it's a gamort
or a spame
it's why you left the kid at the pub!
if you are over 200 pounds then darts and other bar activities like billiards and tabletop shuffleboard are sports. if you are under 200 pounds then they are games
Sport it is then ![]()
Game
Especially since no one gets hurt.
I would say that only games with a competitive and real physical element are sports. Championships and commercials are totally irrelevant. Otherwise we would have to allow professional gaming as a sport too! It's competitive, you have have championships and there is even a physical element like in darts where you move your arm around. A lot.
To be clear, that's not a real physical element. So I say neigh! No sport.
Sport should only be things that require athleticism...
Darts does not, it requires accuracy, hand eye co-ordination and severely good dexterity..
That isn't a physical exercise so it shouldn't class as a sport...
All sports are games but not all games are sports...
Sport is not defined only by games that are athletic, u may pursue a sport for pleasure which doesn't require such physical activity, pretty much anything pursued comeptitively may be classed as a sport.
Sport (or, in the United States, sports) is all forms of competitive physical activity which,[1] through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants.[2] Hundreds of sports exist, from those requiring only two participants, through to those with hundreds of simultaneous participants, either in teams or competing as individuals.
Sport is generally recognised as activities which are based in physical athleticism or physical dexterity, with the largest major competitions such as the Olympic Games admitting only sports meeting this definition,[3] and other organisations such as the Council of Europe using definitions precluding activities without a physical element from classification as sports.[2] However, a number of competitive, but non-physical, activities claim recognition as mind sports. The International Olympic Committee (through ARISF) recognises both chess and bridge as bona fide sports, and SportAccord, the international sports federation association, recognises five non-physical sports,[4][5] although limits the amount of mind games which can be admitted as sports.[1]
BAM! Youre all wrong!!
Funny how he did not list the five. Game OVER!
