?
The people being massacred are often worse than the people massacring. Western insurgents often instigate conflict in order to justify intervention. Some of the expelled journalists were former special forces. But that was just a coincidence.
Yeah, hundreds of them. All
I thought nobody wanted the US the overstep the bounds. You know, like Iraq.
It doesn't take hundreds to snipe somebody and let each side blame the other. I didn't suggest they incite crowds with megaphones; that's your simplistic understanding of how things are instigated. They're pretty good at this. They have a lot more options on the table that you're obviously unaware of. ![]()
I'm against most US meddling abroad, Simon. At least half the time (easily arguably more) we just make things worse for ourselves and everyone else. Nevermind that we kill people and get our soldiers killed doing it.
Which is exactly what I'm arguing here: That the US should not involve itself when action would just as likely (most likely, in many opinions) make things worse in Syria.
It's all well and good to say "something's wrong, we should help!" But when "help" entails killing foreign nationals and losing American troops, and probably means "help an even worse government take power," that's not the kind of "help" the world needs.
"It doesn't take hundreds to snipe somebody and let each side blame the other."
Then why did the regime not use this for their propaganda? Why would any western power risk a suicidal-but-highly-trained-white-sniper to get caught for bad propaganda? It seems to me like a very costly intervention that way. Also the amount of deaths is much higher in this "war".
"I didn't suggest they incite crowds with megaphones; that's your simplistic understanding of how things are instigated."
I said -simplistic as it might be- "under-cover".
"They're pretty good at this. They have a lot more options on the table that you're obviously unaware of."
feels like the James bond version of reality. What other options are you talking about except for the sniper-theory?
Short of slaughtering a few thousand Syrian troops, there's nothing to be done.

2012 OMFG CAN NO ONE STOP THE SYRIAN ARMY
We should stay out of it. Our responsibility is to our own people, not them.
shaddap you hippie
building bombs makes jobs at home
sorry not hippie, "peacenik"
Syria has rights too! Oh wait? Oh that was last year? Wtf? Ok ok...
BOMB SYRIA TIL YOU CRATER DOWN TO THE MANTLE!
I'm all for bombs.
President: Greetings Pope Benedict.
Pope Benedict: Greetings, Mr. President. What have you to discuss with me today?
President: I decided to ease some of our tensions. I have a big present for you. Is that okay?
Pope Benedict: I love presents. I look forward to meeting you.
*** BOOM ***
News: American precision bombs have leveled the Vatican to the ground, with no collateral damage in Rome. In the chaos, the US President claims it's his right to appoint the new pope, which he already has. The new pope is reportedly a liberal professor at Notre Dam University.
You do know the Vatican is known for having the third best spy agency in the world right?
no Vatican spies are better
Vatican: Here have some apple pie, it's made by hand by the best nun cooks in North America
Ruski: mmmm
Vatican: So what secrets you want to know
Ruski: We already know everything
Vatican: OK hey try this brandy which our Benedictines been making the same way for 800 years
Ruski...wow
Vatican: have a free case! Say the Yanks would like to know how you know everything in America without asking us
Ruski: No way, we don't like America
Vatican:Israel would like to know it too
Ruski: We don't really like them either
Vatican: India's asking the same thing.
Ruski: Huh that would help, having India owe us one. OK if I tell you, tell them they owe me a favor
Vatican: even better I'll call their cultural attache now and ask him to have some pie with me, you can tell him yourself
Ruski: great!
Better than Russian spies? Maybe. I was talking about US spies.
actually that is a fair idea of how they work. Vatican diplomats get reports from domestic bishops so they have intel on every country but Saudi Arabia. Then they give it any "diplomat" who asks. And in return they can get favors done.
That's interesting. Either way, the Pope can't stop an American army from sacking Rome.
Actually he could by a single top level pronouncement. Then roughly 900 million Catholics would be screaming Death to America while riding in the tanks, jeeps, and helicopters they used to man....
But meh.
LOL. Well, most Catholics aren't really Catholic anyway. They'd probably just continue life as usual.
"Then why did the regime not use this for their propaganda? Why would any western power risk a suicidal-but-highly-trained-white-sniper to get caught for bad propaganda? It seems to me like a very costly intervention that way. Also the amount of deaths is much higher in this "war"."
They do. Why are you talking about this if you know nothing about it?
Why do you presume such a sniper would be suicidal? Do you understand how snipers fire from concealment, at a great range, and move? Why are you talking about this if you know nothing about it?
Why are you pretending to be able to judge what's costly when you know nothing about it?
The amount of deaths proves what? Do you have a point?
"feels like the James bond version of reality. What other options are you talking about except for the sniper-theory?"
I do not feel comfortable discussing methods of terrorism on a public forum with strangers. Terrorism is real. You can call it by whatever name you want. "James Bond" is appropriate, because apparently that's the form you think actual terrorism takes.
Hussein has been educated in the West
so he kills 100 people a day for a month
then, some chronic drug addict with a million Twitter followers is going to die of drug overdose and everyone in the West will forget.
(looks like LiLo is red hot candidate http://www.tmz.com/2012/06/09/lindsay-lohan-accident-truck-driver-video/)
Elsewhere they don't give a damn anyhow.
I'm not as necessary as isolationist as most Libertarians (I'm not a member of the party, it's just the one I most closely identify with), but watching people gullibly accept the narratives offered to them by NWO-supporting Republicrats time after time after time after time, when every time involves killing people who were literally no threat to us and losing the lives of American soldiers in the process, really rubs me the wrong way.
History clearly shows both that our politicians meddle in decisions which should be made by generals based on their experience and troops on the front lines--always to our mission/soldiers' lives' detriment. History clearly shows that our track record for actually improving situations is arguably 50% at best... Probably considerably worse.
I'm not necessarily against all foreign military action. Admittedly it'd help if I didn't think all of our presidents for the past couple decades were corrupt NWO trash. But when you're told that action in Libya was necessary and the rebels would be better, and when you're told that the Syrian rebels are better than the current regime (which is terrible, no argument here): Consider that maybe they're not. If you're actually interested in the matter, expose yourself to the wealth of information out there that suggests they're not.
I don't know many things positively about the situation more than anybody else here. But I think most people should be, at the very least, questioning more of what they're being spoon-fed than they are.
well dont blame me I don't support the 4th Geneva Convention that says civilians are off limits
