Re: Unions Revisited

Recently the Conservative cause has had great success in thwarting the power of big spending liberal Unions.

Wisconsin was a major victory of course where collection of dues was no longer guaranteed, it also ended some abilities of Unions to make spending decisions for the Government. Add in pension reform and you have the major parts.

Two Californa cities also decided to tackle pension reform on the same day, with a huge majority making Union people pay a significant part of their heavy Pension plans.

The story does not stop there, as the Supreme Court in Arizona just ruled against a subsidy program for the police union in Phoenix. http://hotair.com/archives/2012/06/07/the-other-union-story-from-tuesday/

Note the article lists a number of States where anti-union fights are anticipated.

Note that Private Industry Unions were gutted by large demands that often collapsed companies. The locations were bought but Unions often could not return. Public unions cannot be lost via this method, just significantly reduced. It is the taxpayers who will collapse.

I have wanted to advocate a restructuring of the Unions to a no collective bargaining format. I believe they can still provide safety once the power, money, and corruption is removed. I support worker safety and an additional check against employers.

However perhaps I was wrong to want reform before the death of the Unions. After talking to a devout Union Driver I see no recourse. He called those who leave unions stupid, and those fighting unions ignorant or evil. I was no holds barred in that conversation yet he was fixated in his world as tight as Xeno and Kemp are in theirs.

The Democrat Party is scared of this result... they rely upon the Unions for a lot of their fundraising and volunteers.

And yet when the Unions have a choice of restrait or extremism they always go for extremism which is destroying their credibility.

Card check where three Union goons show up and intimidate you to sign a card.

Ambush elections where they use every lie they can and hope the company is slow to respond with the truth.

Attacks on line crossers (who have families to feed)

Attacks on companies that hire other Unions

Spending money to hire protesters as Astro Turf

Bussing angry Union people past peoples homes.

America may actually end Unions power in the next decade. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction? Or the Pendulum swings? Either way the smell of doom is upon them.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)

More... and yes this was not an Establishment win, this was a Tea Party win.

Re: Unions Revisited

I don't like Unions, but aren't you nutpicking?

Re: Unions Revisited

nit picking perhaps?

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: Unions Revisited

Nut picking.

It means selecting the minority of nut case examples of a group and using them to describe the group as a whole.
