The ban would prevent you from buying a large drink in theatres, sporting events, from sidewalk vendors, resteraunts, and other outlets.
Mayor Bloomberg is quoted as saying "You want more then buy two drinks" and "we are not taking rights way, we are just you informed".
The New York State Legislature is considering a law that would prevent the Mayor from succeeding with his ban.
The mayor even went so far as to say he would expect Governor Cuomo to veto any such law.

If I am taking a girl to see a three hour movie I want to be able to buy her and me a very large drink and carry those two with me to the seats ONE TIME. If I am at a major game like the Super Bowl I want to have a large drink. When it is 100 degrees out I don't care what the drink is so long as it is cold and big.
The nanny keeps making moves for a Big Brother society. Stop interfering with our choices.
Buy a large water then? He isnt banning that.
