Honestly I havent been in Barcelona, only in the airport, so I don't know where you could really go appart from the turistic routes, but dont miss to visit Camp Nou stadium!   Visca Bar

Haven't been to Barcelona for years, but main tip is....

Watch your belongings! The city is well known for the number of professional pickpockets working the city and almost everyone who I've spoke to that has been to Barca have have something stolen. So whether you're walking down Las Ramblas, on the Metro or generally somewhere crowded, keep your belongings with you (and wallet not in your back pocket!). I've heard stories of people pretending to be police and asking for ID... when you get your wallet out, they nick something...

Someone tried to steal from my bag when I was getting on the Metro in Barcelona once. They made two mistakes (1) not realising that all that was in my bag was my wet swimming trunks (2) they were seen by my fiery tempered Welsh friend and suffered the indignity of being pushed off balance by a girl accompanied by a string of expletives in a language they didn't understand and an accent I didn't understand

Don't eat in tourist places, it wont be good and it will be expensive, so don't eat on the Ramblas or Placa Catalunya.
Basically if ppl speak spanish in it, it should be good, if ppl speak english in it, it should be shit

What to visit:
Parc Guell, It's free, nice and a nice view over bcn
Sagrada Familia, It's expensive to visit it and not a lot to see in it, but u have to see it from outside at least
Montjuic Castle, Take the cablecar in the city to go there, not a lot to visit but you have a nice view of bcn
Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, It's in Montjuic as well so you can do it after the castle
Parc de la Ciutadella and arc of triomph, it's free, nice place to chill on a sunday
If you like football, season is over but you can still visit the Camp Nou

Where to go out:
There are many many places to go out, hard to tell you where since it depends on what you like.
The good areas to go out are Barrio Gotico, Gracia, El borne, near the beach
There are lot of concerts as well so maybe watch announcements. If you come start of June there is the Primavera sound festival, If you come mid June there is the Sonar festival.
If you are here the 23rd go picnic the evening by the beach, there will be like 1m ppl here with lot of fireworks

Metro closes at 12pm and 2am on fridays and opens all night on saturdays.
It's really modern and you never have to wait for a metro, be careful of pickpockets.
You don't have violence in barcelona, you can cross it at any hour of the night, you have 99% chances to be safe.
The biggest risk is pickpocket, just dont give free hugs when you are drunk to everybody.
Leave passport flying ticket and maybe credit card at the hotel it will be safer, I never saw controls of identity, if that would happen, tell them u left it at the hotel.
