Re: Swearing in #mod

Can mods please start treating people like people and stop powertripping.

I'm 24 years old.  I swear, so does most of the world.  fam chat is not kindergarten.  Sometimes i use swearing to add humour or depth to my wordings.

If someone is not swearing in anger, how about a warning first?

try this "hey, orbit, can you please mind your language?"

instead of this

"kicked from #mod (f word)"

I mean, seriously?  were adults not children, stop treating people like kids and then maybe people might respect you more.

It's really annoying when your having an ADULT conversation and you get kicked mid way because you had a joke with someone, or used "no [BLAM] way?"  its very different to "fd your a [BLAM] idiot"  Please can you use some common sense when dealing with such incidents.  Your not police officers.  only gywnedd holds that title, but he's australian so all he does is chase kangeroos.

Re: Swearing in #mod

I must mildly disagree with some of your content

because mods and f mods do give warnings a lot of the times

They also give a few before a kick is issued

Also

They are the "cops" of the game...... so that statement is also false.

[13:43] <@RisingDown> never thought i'd say it, but TBO actually did something useful.
[13:43] <@arsy> dont let him see you say that

Re: Swearing in #mod

and as an ex-mod you should know better.

how difficult can it be to just watch your language.

Re: Swearing in #mod

I do agree with Primo and TBO ..

You should know better when ur ex-mod and an adult ..

In a fam channel you can do what your fam like .. But in #mod you cant .. Im sorry

Our mod team does appreciate it that people behave in #mod and watch their language a bit since there are not only vets and adults there smile

Sofar I know and see, all mods respect "most" of our IC players and do not treat them as kids ..

I know you (Orbit) still hold a "little" grudge towards me becos of the demodding thingie but hmmm Im sorry I dont treat you different as someone else

also maybe you didnt read this topic in announcements http://www.imperialconflict.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=154736 to prevent future outbursts from you wink

Re: Swearing in #mod

Yeah yeah ex mod blah blah, I am an ex mod thanks for pointing that out I didn't forget however.

Heres the scoop,  what is the point of the mod channel?  it serves no purpose to the IC community, its a system disconnected to the IC game.

Heres your solution,  you create a ingame based mod question tool where players can (ingame) message a mod for help, and a mod can directly respond and help this player.  This player no longer needs to connect to an external program.

What does that mean for #mod?

It becomes a happier place for players to converse and share their experiences without being zapped by pointless powertripping mods.  You can release your powers of control and just monitor for serious cases of abuse and we can create a atmosphere again.   #fam chat is fam chat, mod is a gateway, dont confuse these 2 dynamics.

If you are so bored that you find your only job of the day is kicking people for saying a few f's and s'ses then can i suggest you use that time to come up with new innovations for this game or search the interface for multi's that is more your job afterall.

Re: Swearing in #mod

You're kinda forgetting Orbit that #mod is for talking to Mods, #general was the gateway channel for the community. So your discussions in #mod are already taking place in the wrong channel.

Re: Swearing in #mod

Mod channel is not only a channel to serve the community as in "people who know everything" , it serves as help for our community as in "people who dont know everything" too.

mod question tool (ingame) ; Thats a idea we whould like too but first things first . we got our new server and now we need those bugs fixed. Most players are helped right away in #mod after a PM.
Our (cr)aplett is not the best indeed and sometimes it still happends that people dont get a answer on their PM or "question in our main channel" becos mods try to do more in the same time.
Hmmm Our Devs are only human and have jobs/etc too so when they have first prio's done then they can look into that problem indeed.

What it will mean for #mod we dont know yet and will see when time comes.

People still talk about a lot of things in #mod when they want and have the time but "almost" all behave and "most" dont need to swear to add/have some depth in their convoos.
We monitor a lot in #mod the last few months. People in mod ( like Gwynedd indeed ) can tell you that we do that a lot wink
Releasing our powers .. dunno  mods do A LOT more nowadays  euh should have in your time from modding too maybe? ..
Hmm about the Atmosphere in #mod .. I can not complain and you are one of the few who is complaining about that lately
confusing the dynamics ; I did answer on your statement : Quote / "fam chat is not kindergarten.

Kicking people whole day ; I can disagree there too and probably most of the people who are there a whole day , can too.  Only a few dont wanna learn or dont know to behave and even they dont get kicked each day smile Right Deci?
About our Job and suggestions from you; I do see a lot of blocks the last few months indeed. Didnt have much complains from the community about that lately.
Innovations etc. Hmmm we did have a thinktank for a while, they suggested a lot of ideas + our ideas topic still is active with ideas who make sence ( dunno about this topic ). Our IC founder/Creator is very active atm and is helpfull.

A general answer Orbit hmmm Im not planning to read this topic all the time  ... in general your ideas make sence but i dunno if this topic should be open for a long time as "Idea"..

Re: Swearing in #mod

Yeah, I give warnings all the time to Banksy tongue But at some point you just have to say "well he knows better and is just doing to test the boundary and resolve of some mods" (ie. he does it to see what I will do a lot of the time tongue)...there are other channels, not just #general, that are setup to get around the swearing rules of #mod. I for one do not just sit in #mod, family chats, and queries, but have other channels setup to converse with friends I have developed and can do so in a relaxed atmosphere.

Maybe Orbit, start another channel with no rules, with black jack, and [lovely ladies] and there will be no issues. You are challenging the status quo of an established communication channel, not arguing a new rule, doing so in a way that tries to demean anyone that actually gives their time to monitor such channels. I think the request would have more weight if it was done so as a clean request, not in response to a specific kick (ie. present the argument as an argument alone and detach yourself from the actual problem).

Re: Swearing in #mod

I agree with Wornstrum and FD, if you don't enjoy the alleged draconian governance of that channel, create your own channel, let your friends know its not for fam chat its just a general place to hold adult conversations. The rules are quite clear regarding #mod.

Insanity and genius are closely related!
