But I object. This one is written by liberals and is way tainted...

A sample of the "wtf" questions:

Controlling inflation is more important than controlling unemployment.

significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.

The businessperson and the manufacturer are more important than the writer and the artist.

Making peace with the establishment is an important aspect of maturity.

I guess I'm a center-right libertarian. lol.

I agree with Flint. Some of the questions were objectionable. In particular, the ones he cited. Especially the one party state one, lol. You could agree with the statement, but believe that debate is a good thing.

I also found these questions objectionable.

1. It is right to sometimes use military force if it's against international law.
-My answer is: it's neither right or wrong. I simply don't recognize any international organization as a legitimate authority, and I wouldn't care what they thought if I were President.

2. One can not be moral without religion.
-My answer: They are really asking two questions. First, that non-religious people can have morals. Secondly, that non-religious people will be more likely to harm others. On the first I agree. To appeal to morality is to automatically invoke an authority. On the second, I do not.

"significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system."

That's just false, but it usually resolves itself with the execution of losing bureaucrats by the same arm that represses minor political parties...so it is more efficient argument...

Yes it is old but it is quite interesting. And yes, the questions may not be totally without bias. I would also question the calibration of the scale, everyone has been shifted way to the left - apparently wfs and I are about to start an anarchistic revolution and I am much further away from the centre than Flint is. I guess in this case "the centre" is the centre in the USA. Anyway it is just a bit of fun, I don't think there is any point reading anything more than that into it

That's amusing when considering that, according to this scale, the center in the US is pretty far to the hard right.

Yeah... he hates pretty much every US candidate tongue

EDIT: Disclaimer: obviously, the actual measurement of their candidates relative to the compass is the author's perception of the candidate stances on each issue, so it's not exactly a perfect correlation by any means.

So Flint is more moderate than the whole field of US presidential candidates? Really?

Enjoy!  (Actually, last time I ran this myself, I was much closer to Ron Paul than anyone else... which is... well... odd, to say the least).

That's interesting... my overall place has actually moderated a bit more in the past 5 years (first time I took this, about 8 on the economic right section, then slowly migrated until it's at 5 here).

I would have thought flint a lot more authoritarian considering he wants to banish everyone who doesn't agree with him to Doomsville.

Only Libertarians, and that to medical testing facilities.

After all there clearly is a mental disorder associated with not seeing the harm in drugs.

Flint,

I believe there is harm in drugs, and will never consume drugs myself. However, I recognize that criminalization makes the problem worse. An effective strategy to combat drugs must involve education and rehabilitation. Focusing on the suppliers gets you Los Zetas.

Invade, install curfews, limit movement, do raids often, inspections everywhere, kill all the bad guys, make it a protectorate with oil compensation for us solving their problems, make the new defensive border the South side of Mexico.

Problems solved.

Re: The Political Compass!

And of course, that is a solid, elaborate and realistic plan, Flint! I especially like the "kill all the bad guys". Why did no one tihnk of that before? All you need is John Rambo!

On the test though: I never made said anything about the value of the test, it's just fun. And why yes, I'm in the mood for a Bakunist revolution! It sure as hell beats being unemployed. Anarchy in the UK!!

Re: The Political Compass!

Flint do you really want to add Mexico to the growing list of the 3rd world countries you can't keep in check?

Re: The Political Compass!

I want to end the drug trafficking and murders.

Killing anyone with guns would kill bad guys.

Though some will bury their guns we can keep the place occupied and divided. If divided then guns can be found by moving 100% of the population out and razing the town/city in question and then telling them to rebuild but minus guns.
