I assume that has been his personal opinion for a while but it has finally been affirmed and as far as i can recall we will in 2012 have the first ever presidential candidate in US supporting this.
Do you think it will affect the election much at all?
Im thinking it could push some religious democrats to support the republicans instead.
I don't see a reason why Americans make such a big issue out of gay people.
Let them marry each other, they are not hurting anybody, infact they will support the US economy.
Maybe because Americans believe in fairy tails about god a made up fantasy character that will punish people because they live different than "normal"people do.
Letting a fairy tail control your life is more pathetic than being gay, just my opinion.
Mind you, there are many so called Heterosexual people out there who have sex with the same sex, much more than you imagine.
I think Obama did a good thing but im sure he will get punished by the people for saying something a fairy tail book sees as a sin.

I think forcing Religion through laws is unconstitutional so im ok with him supporting it.
Marriage itself, should not be policed by the gov't. If you're going to claim civil-unions for tax information, fine, but then there is no discriminatory factors involved.
I really dont see why marriage shouldnt be a state institution.

I think the story here is that so many people are such uneducated, unsophisticated hicks that they think this is news. That we allow silly games like this to go on and pretend everyone shouldn't have known this all along is disturbing.

Each of these "findings of fact" used to decree that gay marriage must be lawful, refers to how people other than a gay couple, feel about homosexual marriage. The judge (who just happens to be gay) decreed that gay couples are entitled to the respect and cultural legitimacy accorded to heterosexual marriage.
In other words, it's ENTIRELY a matter of what other people think about you.
BTW I look forward to a federal lawsuit by Justin Bieber to compel the same "cultural legitimacy and respect" to "Baby Baby Baby Whoa" as Mendehlsson's Wedding March. I mean since the federal district courts are ladling that out, why not grab some?

I think we should let them have it ("marriage") so they'll shut up. While it's disrespectful to the natural "marriage" of heterosexuals, it won't directly harm anybody nor force you to respect their mental disorder(s).
Ideally I say give them all the legal benefits [partnership] (or, better yet, remove all the legal benefits altogether) without abusing the word "marriage," but that's not enough for a bunch of people angry that they've got a mental disorder and can't create children. So give them "marriage." It's the only way they'll ever shut up. I'm tired of mentally [clucked]-up people whining.
They can't have children. Their "union" is not the natural one of heterosexuals which enables the creation and raising of functional, balanced children. Their "union" is not the natural one of heterosexuals which produces families, the fundamental building block of societies for thousands of years. But Jesus Christ, just make them stop whining.
I love how Obama was for gay marriage before he was against it before he was for it. Hey, Obama supporters: He thinks that so many of you are morons that he has to lie about his positions to get/maintain your support! He's the President of the United States of America, and he has yet to, as they say, grow a pair.
I'm an Atheist. And I stand against gay marriage for two reasons.
1. I believe marriage should be privatized. Expanding the franchise is therefore a step in the wrong direction.
2. Homosexuals deserve to be punished for backstabbing sex workers after they won their important legal battles.
