Re: restart orion?

Noir.. your assuming everyone has unlimited real life time to spend on ticks..
If people missed the tick to explore.. and go sleep or work like alot of us need to, then they miss another 8 or so ticks. Thats 10 ticks behind in your thinking..
That is major unfair..

Tbh my fam like most were unaffected by this.. but it kinda feels cheap now.. that we are top 5 because other fams had a screwed up start....

Re: restart orion?

My fam is doing percetly mediocre, my issue with this is that unexpected things like this has happened alot in IC, and have rarely been corrected.

If we set a presedence that we are going to reset galaxies and rollback ticks etc, then we are stuck doing that in the future aswell, we sure we wanna go down that path?

unexpected things like this were corrected in time when it happened, by manual tic advance, the problem here is that no mod were able to push that lever (because they dont know how I supose) even with 3 hours to have it fixed.

I am sure a vet mod like KT knows how to ROLL THIS BACK to BoR (not reset really, same map positions or it'd certainly be a mess)

Re: restart orion?

Your saying ic doesnt have exponentional growth. Then your simply wrong... It doesnt matter how u look at it.

We all want this game to survive and thrive. Then u cant use bullshit like this, we need to proffesionalize if ic want to have a future. Eleminate stuff like this

Re: restart orion?

IC doesn't have exponential growth in the sense that if your fam starts 1 tick behind every other fam, then you will still be 1 TICK behind every other fam 4 days into the round.

The only thing that changes is that the 1 tick becomes a larger amount of cash/resources the further into the round you go. Technically, it is exponential, but I don't think that was the point which was being made.

Re: restart orion?

> Noir wrote:

> Paininside, please do explain to me why exponential growth is a better way of viewing IC growth than in ticks

What kinda stupid remark is that Noir... Seriously..

This is a war game, maybe you havent noticed, but Im sure the other fams in Milky Way didnt nap whole galaxy and maybe did notice.. That means exponential growth is more usefull than in ticks. If it werent for the war aspect you're right.

Though in this particular case we're not on about that 'one tick', but rather about the fact some people didnt get to build and lost 8 ticks, and not just one.

Re: restart orion?

ok so mabe they are 6 ticks behind rather than 1. Its still a difference that would be insignificant in terms of who wins the round. With 4 days of pure infra before attacks start, thoose 6 ticks are not a determining factor

Re: restart orion?

So you insist that after 96 ticks of infra, thoose 6 ticks will be the reason for your downfall?

Hm thatll be up to you, but ive seen bigger reasons to whine

I agree it will not make you win the round, it can make you lose in a hc galaxy

Re: restart orion?

i could, but odds are it wont affect anything much. We could ofc reset and waste 2-3 days, i vote against it tho

Re: restart orion?

lolz, I should have brought my cheese platter.

Ok, so every one wants it to be rolled back or reset? What happens if a weekend start doesnt suit me? Hey? What then? Maybe i should start another thread stating that we wont be able to start a reset round within the next 4 days due to my commitments not being suited!! X(

What happens if someone plans something like a holiday and figured could be active enough to get their fam up and running and once infra is cruising can then go into a 1-2 times a day aiding situation?

As stated in the bugs thread, you cant just rollback or manually tick for it to catch up. There are greater implications that will be affected, and then you will get half that arent happy with said rollback, and the other half that didnt want it in the first place.

Learn to adapt. HC is all about it. Its one tick, if you cant move on from it you may aswell call it quits now. Or we can all trigger fleets on someone on day 4 and watch that same person starting a thread asking for another rollback! tongue

Yup just gotta suck it up and live with things happening. Not everything can be perfect for everyone.

Stating in advance that my opinion following does not reflect whatever decision mods made or will make.

Noir has a point. If you are equally good at infra it just means that you are a few ticks behind. Some kind of exponential view is irrelevant and just misleading. You can't quantify something like this.

Lets say you jump infra and you have a 100k NW lead. Does it really mean you have 100k NW lead? The other family could do the same infra jump 6 ticks later and the lead is gone. Now let's say you are both saving for a war right after an infra jump. This scenario would mean that 1 family would have 6 ticks 'extra income', where the 'extra income' is as much as whatever difference that last infra jump would have meant.

So I agree with Noir. 6 ticks remain 6 ticks and it isn't that much.

-

That said. It could still mean a 6 tick disadvantage so yea, it is not 100% fair. smile

Re: restart orion?

lol you guys sound very absurd, saying 6 tics don't affect the overall round (and it is 8 tics not 6)

The problem is when attacks are allowed some fams will have 8 tics advantage on other fams, and than means infra+fleet advantage. 8 tics means lasers built, transports built, etc... even those 8 tics can determine who completes a portal and who doesnt.

And for those who say this game doesnt grow exponential I'll just wait that YOU are in a disadvantage situation and claim the opposite, people tends to say what's good for their convenience in different situations, now you are just doing contradictory statements here and I could go like a fool looking for threads where you posted the game is exponential and make u instantly shutup, but I have better things to do tongue

Re: restart orion?

lol @elro

Lazy bitch haha big_smile And ofcourse he has a point, but that doesnt include any war aspect, only pure infra, of the game

But who cares, no chances in getting it reset so no point complaining

Re: restart orion?

If it was reset instantly I would have advocated its use.. but the round has gone on too long for a reset now...

Re: restart orion?

Here's a tip for noobs. Wake up 5-10 minutes before a tick, and then stay up until the next one. That way you're online for 2 ticks in the middle of the night. Then things like this don't really matter. I'm amazed at how many people thing IC will work perfectly every time.

"The market is like a.....game within a game Teddy"

Re: restart orion?

I agree with poley.

This missed tick effected everyone, deal with it! I had to stay up an hour later so that I could build, and do you hear me complaining, NO!
the only reason why some people are complaining is because their start didn't go as to planned and want another try. Suck it up and live with it please or just do us all a favor and delete. Thanks!

Re: restart orion?

Yeah, but what if you logg on 5 mins before but tick dosnt happen so you gotta w8 1 hour?

Re: restart orion?

Of course your income grows exponentially. I said it is irrelevant and misleading to this case. Being behind doesn't change your rate of growth, it only means you are behind. In the end 6,8 or whatever amount remains the same amount of ticks.

So still a disadvantigde wich was my point i didnt intend the bs discussion about tick vs exp growth.

To late to reset annyway now! Thread closed!
