Re: Imperial Conflict IRC Stats!
I bring you...
*drumroll*
Imperial Conflict IRC Statistics! - http://ic-portal.com/ircstats
Some of you may remember earlier incarnations of this in #general, #mafia, and possibly other channels. While those were cool, and indeed useful, this new site adds to that the following:
1) Ranged stats:
Instead of just a daily breakdown of let's say, #mod, you can also specify a date range or click "overall stats" and get stats for every day they have been logged. For example:
#mod stats for April 07, 2012: http://ic-portal.com/ircstats/channels/mod?day=2012-04-07
#mod stats for March 2012: http://ic-portal.com/ircstats/channels/mod?day=2012-03-01&end=2012-04-01
#mod stats for all time: http://ic-portal.com/ircstats/channels/mod
2) Individual Nick stats:
Why log just individual channels? Stats on a per-person level are just as, if not more interesting. For example:
I_like_pie stats for last week (week of mar 26, 2012): http://ic-portal.com/ircstats/nicks/I_like_pie?day=2012-03-26&end=2012-04-02
3) Aggregate channel stats:
Just the same, why have stats for only individual channels? Indeed, we can also compare various channels' activity levels to eachother. For example:
Server-wide channel stats for this month so far: http://ic-portal.com/ircstats/channels?day=2012-04-01&end=2012-05-01
4) Aggregate nick stats:
This also applies to aggregate person-level stats:
Server-wide person stats for this month so far: http://ic-portal.com/ircstats/nicks?day=2012-04-01&end=2012-05-01
And lastly, I've also added in privacy related functionality for anybody who isn't comfortable with their activity being displayed. We already have this in place for one channel whose data is not factored into any of the calculations. I can also do this on a per-nick basis, so if you do want your activity omitted from this website, feel free to contact me and we can sort that out.
This is a "version 1" btw, I have some things for version 2 already that should make things even more interesting. More on that within the next month hopefully.
For anybody interested in the technical details, what makes this especially different than mIRC-stats is that all the activity is stored in a database and called on-the-fly, instead of compiled from a log and turned into static HTML that never changes. This is what makes the date related stuff possible. You'll also notice that any page's example quotes will change if you refresh them. So you should never see the same exact page twice, even if it's for the same person/channel/etc. Also, all data comes from a dedicated log-bot (FoohonBot), so there's no need for me to be online to collect the logs. FoohonBot does that for me 24/7. Huzzah!
Enjoy!
