Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

Short version:
No chance in hell for Obama to win.

Long version:
Obama has no chance in hell.

First let's look at his campaign promises:

1) No lobbyists in his administration
He has tons in his administration and is frequently seen as assisting them as much as he can. His administration went out of their way to help Solyndria, Fisker, and other green efforts that all collapsed.  So he has them in his admin and he goes out of his way to coddle them.

2) Gitmo will be closed
Yeah that places that was to close is still open, and they still use some enhanced interrogation methods

3) Most open administration ever.
Most door shut and locked down with beams is more like it. Beyond frequent efforts to prevent information being released to public, releases are scheduled for Friday night to reduce chances of the releases making the new.

His own school records are still sealed. What did he study? Who were his teachers? Nothing is known... and people are noticing.

4) Reduce racial tensions
Wow... like really? Who even believes that now after the Harvard Proffessor incident, the Black Panther get out of jail card, and the Zimmerman incident?

5) I will make the United States be respected around the world.
Europes leaders openly dismiss his ideas's, their press mock him, Islamists are ever more against us instead of neutral, N. Korea and Iran treat him like a joke, and Russia makes him bend over and take a train to prevent 'bad relations'.

6) Fixing the economy
Hahahahaha what a joke!

7) Provide energy independence
How many billions did he pump out to 'green energy' companies? Meanwhile oil prices continue to grow and he continues to stop as much as he can new exploration on Federal Lands.

His own advisor, Chu, has said he wants European prices ($9 a gallon) and there is tons of video available with Obama saying 'prices are going to rise'... all this while people are pissed at prices.

________

And that my friends is a short list!

Next we have upset Demographics

The Unions who would have made the Keystone XL pipeline.

The out of work coal workers and coal power plant workers

People working in oil (not the bosses... the workers)

Truck Drivers

Catholics

Jews

Hispanics (really smart move letting mass hysteria launch against Zimmerman... a Hispanic male)

Polish Americans

Reno and Las Vegas workers (You can't goto Vegas and hold your conventions there!)

And soon people around the nation as gasoline prices skyrocket. San Fransisco is due for as high as $6.00 a gallon, and most of the rest of the nation over $5.00 a gallon...

____________

Now to examind fund raising.

So far he has been way under his fundraising goals. It is so bad he had to renege on his 'hate' of Super PAC's and is now going to rely upon them to hopefully bridge the gap.

His spending however is way out of hand, even exceeding his fund-raising currently. He has a over-sized staff and is getting no true effect for them.

In fact analyists have shown he has raised less than George W. Bush raised in 2004 at this time. This inglorious fact just highlights his problems. All groups that supported Obama have reduced their donations. The problem is very much so noticed in student donations.

The final nail in the coffin here is his email solicitations. Instead of asking for $10, $20, $50 and higher... he now commonly asks for sums like $3.

____________

He also had something few could claim.  A Congress able to pass ANYTHING they wanted. What miracles did they perform?

Oh that's right... a tainted Health Care bill which will be killed soon.

Heck it gets even funnier.... Democrats have nonstop shot down his outrageous and insane budgets he proposes.

A Republican with a super majority is a dream, yet even when Clinton was in charge we accomplished more than Obama (Welfare reform, balanced budget)

________________

What else?

The number of volunteers is way down for him from 2008. He cannot get people to step up. This is a big problem for him.

With actual unemployment near 16% everyone, or nearly so, knows someone who has financial problems. While Obama may try to talk a good game about Economics... he cannot get past his previous comments and actions. And assuming Romney wins... perceptions for most of the 16% wishing they had jobs... would be that Romney could get them jobs. He is known for his turning around disasters after all.

The obvious cronyism is hurting him. He made promises that made most Liberals think they would have it made "I won't need to pay for gas, my mortgage will be taken care of. If I take care of him he will take care of me." and yet his supporters are amongst the worst hurt. Meanwhile he is seen supporting Unions and Green groups at cost to his other supporters. They do not feel his love.

His not firing Holder or getting him to resign is hurting him also. Fast and Furious may be getting dragged out, but now it will start affecting his re-election.

Truck drivers will also be critical. More small businesses will collapse (owner operators) this Summer thanks to high fuel prices than ever in the history of the United States. Additionally to that his policies will cost at minimum 600,000 their jobs. They will be against him entirely.

Then there is his opposition.

We hate him and his policies. Not a racist hate, a hate for a man who has the appearance to seek the destruction of this nation, to ruin Catholics as much as he can, to do immeasurable harm.

Right now I dare say if Joe Biden was forced upon us the way Mitt Romney is being forced upon us he would be the next President just on our energy, or desperate desire to be rid of Obama.

While fundraising during the heated Primary was low... indications are when a candidate is selected finally he (or she) will see a massive influx of cash.

And the candidate will have volunteers aplenty. Mitt Romney can pull a dedicated source of Mormons that will make Obama's number of volunteers look pathetic.

The attacks by the left on women has swelled our ranks a lot as well.

Then there is the inside stuff.

Few realize it... but Obama beat Hillary and then McCain thanks to a system called 'Nation Builder'. This set of tools provided him information on where to target for fund raising, where to target for votes, what messages would play best in a region, tools for his GOTV efforts, and more.

Conservatives are rolling out RVotes and another system everywhere they can in response. Our high tech will match their high tech.

Additionally we pulled off some coups in leadership using the PCP system, Conservatives have taken over a number of States run by the Establishment or RINO's. Those States are now rising in strength and numbers and the effect is being noted by Conservative insiders like me.

Obama also pissed Hillary off by not appointing her to a UN position she deeply wanted. Expect 'reduced' help from her.

So... Obama has a snow balls chance in the center of Sol.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

I won't deny I greatly disapprove of Obama. As an independent, he disagrees on most of what I stand for on economic, political and social issues.

Economic:
1. Limit regulations to market failures like externalities and natural monopolies.

2. 100% international free trade, except when national security is threatened.

3. Eliminate the minimum wage, else reduce it no higher than $4.00 an hour. This will allow teenagers to get work experience and decrease unemployment.

4. Eliminate the laws forbidding strike-busts. I have nothing against negotiation, but competition should apply both ways.

5. Adopt a more "buyer beware" consumer protection policy. If consumers are too stupid to read their loan conditions, or understand that McDonalds packs their food with calories, then that's their problem. On the other hand, laws against deception to reasonable persons should be upheld. As it stands, consumer protection laws often serve as a barrier to entering the marketplace.

6. As part of a strategy to cut government spending, start slashing government welfare programs, cancel all government pensions, except those paid to police officers and military, and privatize social security and health care.

7. Eliminate the perverse incentives (intended to increase equality) for banks to recklessly lend. Second, eliminate all price controls like New York City's price ceiling on rent. Leave it to the market.

8. Start paying off the governmnt debt rather than adding to it.

9. Relax environmental regulations to meet our economy's needs.

Political

1. Impose discipline on the EPA. I don't stand for slashing them, but that agency has done ridiculous things like designate a dug-out hole for housing construction as a wetland after it rained.

2. Adequately fund the criminal justice system. It's overloaded with work, yet there are an abundance of unemployed lawyers.

3. More government in the sunshine laws, because government just isn't transparent enough.

4. Eliminate the president's ability to unilaterally deploy troops or order military strikes without congressional approval, unless the strike is authorized by treaty or conditions approved by congress.

Social:

1. Legalize prostitution and relax restrictions on drugs. Additionally, rather than focus on arresting drug suppliers, focus on rehabilitating drug users.

2. Make general abortion legal until the 3rd trimester, and keep contraception legal and widely available.

3. Permit greater flexibility for employees to negotiate with their employers, such as sacrifice time/half pay for more hours, or sacrifice benefits for higher pay.

4. Allow bankruptcy to apply to student loans, and privatize student aid.

5. Reduce the government's involvement in education to the minimum. It's only increasing administrative costs.

6. Privatize marriage.

However, social conservatives like Santorum scare the hell out of me. He is a foreign policy hawk, admitted he dislikes the libertarian wing of the Republican party, and is a prudish busybody who wants to police morality. Recently, I resolved to make a pragmatic decision. No matter how much I agree with them on economic or political issues, my position is soundly

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

As much of a turd as Romney is, he's not as bad as Santorum.

Everyone crying about how crazy Santorum is is a communist Obama supporter, though: It's irrelevant, because even Republicans won't nominate such a jackass. People complaining about how crazy Santorum is and talking about how they can't vote for him are just Obama supporters who want to complain about a Republican but don't have good dirt on Romney.

It's a legitimate thing to point out and discuss, but there's no point in complaining about Santorum as if he might be nominated. He won't.

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

There are people who use Santorum as a poster boy to support their view that the Republican party is vile and crazy. However, others like myself are sensitive to social conservatives, and feel our freedoms are under threat when they hold office. Perhaps we are exaggerating their threat by neglecting what they could do, but I don't feel we aren't unjustified in being suspicious of them. They have already done enough damage, and repeatably harass lovers of individual freedom.

Also, you understate Santorum's popularity. In the poll I cited, Obama would only lead Santorum by 8% of the vote. That assures me he won't win the election this year, but it scares the crap out of me that that many people would vote for him over politics as usual.

Personally, I hope Romney wins. Although he's flip-flopper, I feel comfortable that his support for social conservatives is just lip service. And of all the candidates who could win, I agree with his economic policies the most.

Actually, I was a big Santorum fan up until a few weeks ago when he got into the spotlight, and start talking about all kinds of batshit crazy things. I can no longer in good faith cast my vote for him. Looking at the related field, I guess I'll have to abstain from voting in the presidential election because not a single one represents my views on a high enough level to be worth my vote.

Arby stayed around and helped out the remaining family. At the end of the round he revealed himself.... My views on him have changed since. Your a good guy.....

In a normal election I would agree with you possibly. But with the current bunch of republicans, I don't see how Obama can lose. Even if unemployment goes up to 9$ he owns this election. Please quote me in November! tongue

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

Flint,

I think you fail to understand the divide between social conservatives and those with libertarian tendencies. A coalition between them may overcome the Democratic party, but if social conservatives like you impose moral policing on us, then that coalition will break apart in the long-run.

In other words, a unified hatred of Obama may bring conservatives together on a united front. But it won't take long for the disagreements on moral policing to fracture the coalition.

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

Oh I think your right.

Having the PoS Romney shoved on us instead of a true Conservative (Which Santorum is not imho) will mean war in 2016.

But for now Obama must go.

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

If Obama wins he'll be a stronger president. It would be his 2.  and last term. That would give him new options to deal with problems like:
1. Israel
2. Iran
3. North Korea
4. Revolutions in the Middle East/North Africa
5. Health care
6. Reforms in the economy

1.&2. are combined. If Israel attacks it won't be like the Israeli attack on Syria, it will be war started by Israel. If this happens before the election Obama has no choice as to support Israel in an conflict that may last decades. As soon as Obama would be reelected, his stance towards Israel would be much stronger to stop them starting a war that may turn on the global oil market. Romey as president, as a rookie, would have no choice as to go to war when elected. In my view, every vote for Romney, without an attack by Israel on Iran, is a vote for war.

3. North Korea is another hot spot. With the new young leader a central element of global distribution of know how for nuclear weapons and rockets can be guided into a new direction, if there is a capable US-president. Obama in a second term would have better chances to achieve that than a rookie from the Reps.

4. The Revolutions in North Africa and the Middle East are still not finished. Most of the political action is behind the scenes there, so if the US-president is Obama or Romney is not important.

5. With the baby-boomers retiring the US, as most western nations, are faced with a challange for their social networks. Obama made a half hearted reform that took far too long to implement. But would Romey really destroy it or try to change it a bit?

6. Obama failed completely in economic reforms. The US national dept is rising with no end in sight. The economy is not recovering well and may drop into recession. Would Romey cut expenses during the crisis or postpone it into the distant future?

In conclusion: Obama would be the better choice. It may be war or peace. An important factor is the second term benefits for Obama. His stance would be stronger and many topics may be dealt with easier. A rookie like Romney would need months to find his way in office. Does the US have this time?

Re: A realistic look at Obama's re-election chances

Obama has empowered N. Korea, Syria, and Iran with his foolish and childish antics. He is the laughing stock of the entire international community right now (Since Kim Il died that is, he was runner up until then).

He is so weak on foreign policy as to be mocked by Danish Media! "Hits above their belt" indeed!

He cannot get a coalition formed for anything, the last action was France and England forcing him into THEIR coaltion!!!

Any accusations of Romney being weaker... lol.
